I think it depends on the demand. What i tried to do in my first band was to play as many shows as possible to get better as a band. But, ultimately i found that about every 2 months was the sweet spot for getting the most people out. If a band really wants to play out as much as possible...

Sounds like you have this figured out but you need to find the right people.

Can you try to find a gig she is on board with? Or at least float that option? I'm not saying you have to quit but the act of exploring that option could be enough to make her happy. Who knows, maybe you will find a better band that plays better music for more money.
