Given my current Genzler set up, which second cabinet would you choose?

I originally had just the initial Straight version of BA12-3 before the SLT version came out. I added an SLT BA12 and the two paired together are amazing. For small venues even without FOH support a single cab covers it easily. Two together handles anything else. After the covid lock downs...

Hi Joey, Are you updating your rig to the new MG or sticking with the kinetix?

Hi Jeff, That's a great idea. Some of the stages we work are very dark.

I used one when I had a singular BA12 to great effect. For bigger venues I use two BA12's and keep them on the floor. If the stage is wood I almomst always need something in between to from coupling with the stage.

I have a couple of 12's (Original and an SLT) and picked up the 15 last year. I really like the 12 on top of the 15, better then the 2 12's stacked. The 15 adds more depth and breath. They play well together for sure. I still want to try a 210 on top but the 12 does an admiral job. I find...

What's the most significant thing you've learned from Talkbass?

I was quite a user a long time ago and couldn't remember my original handle or password. So i learned to write that stuff down or keep regularly checking in.... lol I've got great advice, equipment recommendations and made a bunch of friends.

    Heavy Cabs...........

I had my Dave Eden 410XLT with heavy duty casters that clocked in at 104lbs until 2017 when my back and body couldn't handle it at the end of the night. Moved on to a modular set up at 34lbs per cab and never looked back.

Best advice I got ( from Jeff himself) was to start with the eq flat. Then dial in the contour to taste. I'm "A" a contour guy but will turn over "B" when doing some early 70's classics. I lived there for years before I started experimenting with the eq. I found to it depends on the room...

On a side a note, what is your favorite Elmon description? My fav is an older one where he wrote out the sounds of his bass in basically a cool form of tab. I remember the main line went something like "splinky splikiddity sploink sploint splank". ( sorry I'm paraphrasing here.....) in place...

Hey 27Mins, I really like your description of you playing as "advanced beginner"! I've been playing pro gigs since the 90's and some days I still feel like an advanced beginner! LOL For me, I switched to a 5 string in the late 90's as I was doing a lot of gospel sunday gigs and needed that...
