    Need some help

If you have a MacBook, you have Garage Band. Plug your bass directly into the mic/line input on your laptop, or go Direct out or preamp out from your amp or mic the cab and plug into the mic/line on your laptop. That's it. Garage Band is easy to use and there are tons of tutorials online if...

What's the limit amount of $ you would spend on a bass?

$500 is gobs of dough. Both of my basses were ~ $500 - Ibanez EDB600, Allparts fretless Jazz, and both of them play and sound fantastic. I've also scored a brand new Hwy 1 Strat for $430. A brand new Gibson Vintage Mahogany Les Paul for $500. A brand new Danelectro U2 Reissue for $80. Traded a...

    Finger Nail Poll

I use my just-past-the-tips nails to get any sound I want out of both guitar and bass. Whoever has nails and can't pluck without getting that click click sound doesn't know how to use their fingers.

    bro battle!

"Normal" humans are supposed to be capable of hearing as low as 20Hz. It's difficult for me to differentiate notes at that low range, but it's completely possible that he can hear it just fine.

Where do you get your tone from?

Set everything - bass and amp - flat. That'll give you an idea of what to tweak and where. Then, set your amp. Then use the bass controls to find your range once the amp is set. It's not very desirable to have to tweak your amp between songs IMO.

Bass amps for Mac Garageband software?

You have to purchase the jam packs. I also updated my previous reply - the simulators don't emulate popular brands/models, they are more like presets tailored for an instrument, i.e. bass, guitar, voice, etc. Not sure you'll need to purchase an extra jam pack. You'll probably do just fine...

Bass amps for Mac Garageband software?

You can get different "Jam Packs" that have more simulators and effects, etc. than what comes packaged with the software. I've used the packaged simulators and they are pretty versatile as far as custom tailoring their individual sounds. And they aren't really simulators insomuch as they are...

Does anybody have any knowledge on this jazz control plate?

I second this question. Thinking about throwing this in my bass and wondered about quality, usefulness, etc. The video link is pretty explanatory, just want to know if anyone has one of these and how do you like it?

is the problem my AMP or bass?

If it's when you move around it's most likely your cable or jacks. make sure your jacks are tight and clean and test the cable by whipping it lightly or wiggling it around a bit.

    Why did you pick bass?

Violin - Piano - Bass - Guitar - Bass Needed a bassist for a band and already had equipment and knew how to play. . . Now I just need to buy a drum kit and a couple horns. I don't work well with others.

Fender Blues Jr. -> Practice Amp or Real Deal ?

definitely real deal. May I also suggest the Hot Rod Deluxe/Deville or the Blues Deluxe . . . I use the Hot Rod Deluxe 40w 1x12 for EVERYTHING guitar. Sounds great - full, uber-bassy and sparkling highs. The overdrive on it is pretty nasty and dirty bluesy midrange bite, but for heavier rock...

    Help me find a computer!

macbook or imac. They're wireless and come with recording and editing software. though you will have to purchase separate word processing software - unless you opt to use apple's text edit, which isn't as in-depth as MS office. I use a macbook pro and an imac for recording all day and all night...

    Who uses a pick

I used a pick last night to record a 160bpm double kick metal mayhem song. Otherwise I use only fingers regardless of genre. But I have fingernails - carryover from my classical guitar days. I find it harder to play fingerstyle on bass or guitar without fingernails. Without 'em I "wiff" a lot...
