    On the string action you can get it extremely low on the GG basses. Keep in mind string tensions will also make a difference. On the pricing, I hate to say it but the Gould basses are under priced in my opinion.

    Also very fine sand paper works well for this job. Think like wet dry sand paper very fine. And yes you need to oil the wood with something once it's down to nothing. fine wood oils are available

    BTW I have run the normally low tension TI Jazz Flats and rounds on my old 4 string cirrus to great effect. Highly recommended!!
