    SM57 w/TAB-FUNKENWERK

I have done a lot of research about this mod. Honestly, the expanded mid and high range describes the characteristics of a sennheiser e835 (which I prefer over a 57 for guitar) It has all the tonal qualities of the 57 with much more cut. I'll use a pair of 57's on a rhythm guitar, and a...

What do you use for a recording rig?

The best bass tone I've achieved through the studio was through an old Korg AX30B bass processor ran A/B through an SVT3 pro head and a Sansamp RBI. I played a Fender Jazz with the S1 switching system engaged. My cab was the old svt 410115 all in one cab.. i believe the 10 and 15 were mic'd...

I am buying new J pickups, need your help!

I had a bass with the S-1 system that was recently stolen. I too went through pickup hell trying to find what I wanted. My first stop was EMG's. Not bad, but I'm not a big EMG fan for bass. I find them to sound synthetic. For my opinion, I used a jazz bass for a more 'natural' sound...

Today i saw Cliff Burtons ric! (pics)

they should put a bucket in front of that case to collect drool. sounds like you had an incredible experience. as for getting to play that bass in person.. dear god man. WIN!

Question about True Bypass and signal degradation

I got a good deal on a korg ax unit... went to try it out through my eden vt260 and warwick fortress active.. that pedal broke my tone. I immediately disconnected it. I'm going to have to look into an a/b for the sake of keeping my dry tone, which I am in love with, and adding some effects to...

Warwicks: really old vs. kinda old

I own a 94 fortress as well as an 01 'i believe' infinity. To be honest, the construction on both basses are very different and it's hard to say which is 'better'. the fortress has highs to the point where i really need to back them down in the mix. the infinity is more rounded, full...

Some guy at GC told me that DR strings are having issues right now

I like DR, however i haven't had good experience with longevity with them.

    External Sound Card

For live application and minimal latency, I'd use ASIO drivers and a firewire connection. It's never done me wrong. I used a M Audio Firewire 410 and it's great for doing everything that I need it to. Midi for drums and any electronic elements, 2 mics for each guitar, and 2 for bass. Only...

    Impedence question (Very specific situation)

I think i misunderstand your question. If you power an 8 ohm cab in you will throw the impedance off. Use ohms law (physics book stuff). Using series or parallel wiring, and if you do not exceed the rated impedance of your head, i'd say try it.

    Impedence question (Very specific situation)

If an amp is rated for a 4ohm load, that is the lowed impedance it can operate at without causing failure. You will have no issues going to an 8ohm load. You will need more volume / gain, however you shouldn't have any issue. However, never go to a lower impedance than what your amp is...

    need bass buying advice

I have been on quite a Warwick kick lately. Here's my .02. The standard passive run of warwick's aren't all that like the higher end models. I had a mid 90's streamer std (pre rockbass) and it just left a lot to be desired. I went and bought a USA Fender Jazz, swapped the pups, and that was...
