    NBD, rare G&L content!

I love my L5Ks. I've never found a better sounding 5 string bass. I find the string spacing fine. It just takes a bit of getting used to. That purple sparkle sure is nice too. Jamie

    new USA L2500 vs. Tribute

I tried a US L2500 and a Tribute in a shop about 12 months ago. They both sounded good and I had a slight preference for the Tribute in terms of sound (both played through the same amp with a flat eq. However, I didn't hear anything that would make me want to give up either my L5000s or L5500...

So was the 5 string P Bass by Fender a flop or what?

I'd like to see how a true Fender P Bass 5 string plays and sounds. I love G&L L5000s which have a great P bass sound in a five string but some people find the strings to close together (not an issue for me). Jamie

Behold, the holy grail of G&L basses: ASAT 5 FS

Ironically, the same money in Australia will buy you a nice American L2500 at a shop. So it probably was reasonably priced in that respect. Jamie

Behold, the holy grail of G&L basses: ASAT 5 FS

There was one on Ebay today. Do we know how many actually exist? It was not the one as posted on this forum or as also described? That would make 3 at least. Jamie

    G&L 5000 on Evilbay?

It certainly is a genuine L-5000. It plays beautifully and was worth every cent. Like it was under a bed for 20 years. Cheers, Jamie

    New (to me) Tribute L2500

I had a play of both of these, a Bongo and an anniversary edition (20th or 30th) of either a silhouette or a Bongo (nearly $5000 AUD). I couldn't hear much difference between the G&Ls but did notice an odd electric buzz (earth?) in the US made L-2500. Both of the Musicman's had fast necks with...

    Finish choice on new Tribute?

Is Cherryburst an option for you? I just picked up a signed Legacy Tribute for $500 on Ebay and she looks very nice with the maple fret board. Was a real bargain. Jamie

Need a little push to switch to G&L...

Glad you didn't have to get rid of the Ibanez. I have one as well and have been lucky enough to be able to keep every bass I've ever bought. The SR506 I bought was the first brand new bass I ever bought and it was my main bass for a long, long time until I got a 2nd hand G&L L-5000. Now I know...

    Is it really worth it?

Forgot to mention that the bass has been briefly quarantined to open the package and check the wood. Cheers, Jamie

    Is it really worth it?

G'day all, I've just imported (well it should be here tomorrow or Monday) a G&L L-5000 (practically in mint condition) from the US via Ebay. I've had to pay an extra $254.73 AUD which is broken up like this: GST $189.58 (which is more than 10% because I paid slightly less than what was...

When did G&L start making 5's?

I have a L5000 and I reckon it is about the best bass I've ever played (just my opinion). I love the P bass sound and the fantastic low B to boot. I don't think Fender were ever able to produce a P bass that sounds like this one. The smaller string spacing suits my style. I'd also like to own a...
