I actually had this for a while and even kept it like this after few strings changes. I finally got annoyed enough with new strings decided to tackle the issue. Glad to hear i did not damage anything. I dont think the Treble side was ever 3mm, more like 2mm max so It was never was what it was...

I removed the pickup and looks like the foam is too much? I dont think I can do anything about the cables really, should I shave some of the foam, it is pretty dense. You can see how much it was pushing towards the cables.

That assumes I will have to remove the pickups I guess. I am not very familiar with those kind of things so maybe best left alone as annoying as it may be.
