I dont see an issue that needs skirting. All im saying is two jazz players (or rockabilly) can have very different set ups to optimize it for the way they approach the bass and neither of them is wrong.

Bottom line if you play jazz on your bass its a jazz bass if you play rockabilly its a rockabilly bass. Anything to do with set up is a personal preference. There is no reason you cant have a jazz player with high string height, guts and a plywood bass and a rockabilly guy on a fully carved bass...

Guts and a magnetic pickup? Im not sure how that is supposed to work.

string height doesnt have to be very high to slap. I have mine at 6-8mm from the G to E and have no trouble doing a variety of differnet slap techniques.

because its a D string and not a G string, thats why it will not work. It has more to do with its the width.

I live in fort wayne. If your willing to drive to Cincinnati there is the Bass Cellar and Nick Lloyd. Thay are your best bet. At the very least you can get the feel of what a good one sounds and plays like.

I have used both EPs and all but the solo spiros with my olive G and D. The EP weich matched best tension and size with the olive on my bass, but in the end i wound up with spiro mittels. I think the spiro mittels match better when they get some age on them.

and if you couldn't tell from the pics i defreted the neck and it has a string through bridge. The string through bridge help to balance the output of the piezo pickups with the added break angle over the saddels.

i forget alot of the specs on most of it as i did it mabe 6 or 7 years ago. just emg pick ups the preamp is also emg for the magnetic pick ups and it has a separate on board preamp for the piezo saddles. all ran off an 18volt power supply.

sorry i just thought that when a string is made out of gut it is gut i mean that is what gut is, right? If it is wound or not,why else would they need so say if it is wound or not if it has to be plan gut to be called gut . For that matter why call it plan gut why not just gut? You know why...

Pirastro chordas are 100% real gut, not close to gut they are gut.
