    Why I Fear CL

I put an ad in my area a few months ago. I got a call from a guy interested in vocals. He seemed really on edge and breathing really hard. When asking about his experience with music he said he opened up for some band at warped tour once (which is neat but I'm not really a fan of warped tour). I...

    The Look

If you acknowledge that you have made a mistake I was always taught that you're insulting the audience. Think of the models that walk down the catwalks and fall off the ones that would get selected is to make it look like you did it on purpose.

    When to make an album?

There's always promotion if you do an album. I was always told if you have an album you almost can't sell almost give them away. But that's a lot of money. I would say don't consider making an album unless you have enough to not just make the album, but to promote it.

    Unfinished neck anyone?

I have a hate love relationship with my glossy neck because at one point during playing it will be fine but once I start sweating a storm then my hands are slipping all over the fretboard.

Is Fret Buzz after paid set up Acceptable?

Hopefully it wasn't shipped out with it setup because if inspected it with it setup goofy he might have heard buzz somewhere else and go "yeah that can be set up better and will go away" then sent it to you and got messed up it's been in a non temperature controlled environment and when he set...

For those of you who don't 'get' Jaco..

I remember when I was younger and the older guys at the shop where I started taking lessons said that bass playing shouldn't be more than playing a constant 4th and 5th and maybe a few walks here and there. I of course ignored them and always tried to play like Jaco (almost impossible lol but...

    210+212 vs 410

True I should've said he could've downsized and still got something decent lol.

    Ghost builds?

I've always heard rumors of these things like how Slash from GNR's Gibson isn't actually a Gibson. It seems interesting and if there ever had to be a conspiracy theory in the world of instrument it seems like this would be the ultimate one. Until we find that Leo Fender was actually a shape...

    210+212 vs 410

If you are Putting everything through a main, It might be worth getting something with a built-in DI like something Peavey has been doing. I would make you less likely to be lost in the mix when the sound guy is doing sound check.

FENDER raised their prices on Squiers

It's what sells. People are more likely to pick up an instrument they had bought for cheap then put it down not long after. I guess fender thought they would be making another $20 per sale of squier's. I've never liked them, I always said if you want good low end go to Ibanez or Epiphone. Maybe...

    Are basses like wine?

I feel like Basses age like cars. They're nice depending on how the original owner and the ones after it had treated it.

    Age Old Question...

That's what I'm saying. I think the only reason you should listen to cassettes anymore because they are nostalgic or if you can't find a CD copy of it. Or maybe there's a reason why there is a Cassette copy of the album. Like Macintosh Plus' Floral shoppe, when it actually portrays to the art...

    Age Old Question...

I did Mention the part about sound. But that's what I'm Saying What part of the Argument with the comparison with Cassette Vs. CDs When It's literally made better. Most people I hear on the Analog Cassette side Say that it has a warmer sound to when that's literally the cassette either...

    Age Old Question...

So, I'm not exactly the biggest person to be in the Recording department but, isn't the argument of Analog Vs. Digital a little arbitrary when it comes to comparing Cassettes to CDs. The End I've heard is that when Digitally converted it has to change it to a binary code compared to a complete...

How Do I Get My Name Out There?

I recently got kicked out of my band. And I've wanted to do a project of my own for awhile where I have a little more creative input. But I can't find any musicians in my Area. I've made business cards, handed them out at concerts (respectively) and put an add on all local musician forums on...

Tablet screen protectors to fight belt buckle rash?

I always take off any jackets or any belt buckles (If I wore them) no matter what. I love my basses too much to even risk damage.

    The dreaded UPS truck wait.................

I honestly believe my neighborhood UPS guy taunts me. He would stop in front of my house and then drop off a package next door or to the people across the street. Just in time for when I order a new part or when I'm working on electronics.

    Bass weight, really?

I have a bad from an accident as a kid and I bought a fender Jaguar. It has massive tone but strains my back so bad I wish I never bought it. I think it's a little less important to tone than players comfort.

    Fender jaguar modern player.
  29. Iamthelampshade

    Tuning down to C Standard

Well my bass I don't think was designed for the music. (I have no idea why we would need to tune so low I have a hard time guessing what key were in with the songs that the band had before me. Learning the fret board 1.5 steps down)
  30. Iamthelampshade

    Tuning down to C Standard

Do you know the scale of the neck on your ibanez's (what's the plural for Ibanez?) Ibanez usually have 36' scales on some of their "metal" basses for that extra tension. Which may explain how easy it is on your fingers
  31. Iamthelampshade

    Tuning down to C Standard

My strings are maybe a bit bigger. I had my guitar tech file the nut and it came out a little too shallow and is a little hard to set up. Are those strings much more expensive
  32. Iamthelampshade

    Tuning down to C Standard

My guitarist tunes his guitars down far lower than I ever have and my bass is only a 34' scale 4 string yet ive had to size my strings to (I'm not sure about the gauge actually never asked my guitar tech) but they're as thick as a baby's arm and is not fitting to my plucking style. I have to dig...

    Is my Bass any good???

That's a question you would have to answer yourself. If it stays in tune, Neck is straight, Is reliable, and has good tone, then I would say yes it is.

    My Gross Bass Tone

I'm playing something weird. We're like pantera (in a way as we use the same sort of modes and characteristics they would have in their songs) and we just got a vocalist that sounds exactly like Chris Cornell. I posted a separate update to this post on how My new vocalist fixed this by taking...

    Update: My Gross Bass Tone

I went to Practice yesterday and from my last post we were between vocalist. Our new vocalist that came last night, had actually had my guitarist turn down his low end to hear his vocals better through the mixer. So in the end my Problem was fixed without effort. Though my tone does need some...

Well if you haven't tried politely asking them try that first. If not then Maybe buy them a smaller head for their cabinets and plug it into it and hide it beside the drummer with their original head not plugged in. theyll never know.

The right way of alternate plucking

I have Strange Plucking technique. I not always the one to get 1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2. It might go 2-1-2-1-1-1-2-2-1-2-1. I also incorparate a 3 finger technique that I could only explain by going off what time signature it's in

Does anybody just plug and play anymore?

Other Than my Amps being out of commission right now, I always do. I almost never play with pedals.
