Think big picture, or you will end up pouring more money into another amp. Get something that will have the power to handle at least medium sized gigs. That way you have the power if needed in the future.

Sounds like the Audix I-5 is worth checking out. I would like to hear the difference between running direct out (post) and using a good mic. I can swing the $100 for the I-5.

I think I'll give it a try with an SM57 and if I really like it, invest in a better mic for bass frequencies.

That's a good idea. So are you blending both signals at the same time, or just have one or the other ready to go in the event of a problem?

I always mic my guitar cab's when playing live (I play guitar also), but use my amps XLR DI outputs or a direct box when playing bass. I'm curious what the consensus is on this.

I think adding a little bass chorus on slower, more melodic songs adds a nice touch to my sound. Just curious how many use chorus.
