ya, it would cost anywhere from 2k to 3k per guy to get a top notch IEM set up, but it is a good investment for the long term (of your ears! haa) if your individual musicians can afford it... and it sounds like they can based on incomes (personal and from band)... I actually bought my Shure...

agreed Greg... the costs are not that bad compared to a good wedge system, or even a midrange wedge system really... there are both pros and cons, but the advantages far outweigh the drawbacks (once you get it paid for!)..

it took me ten years to accept, but these guys are correct... the way to get your bass into the FOH mix is NOT to turn up on stage, it's to turn down .. or in my case (with our IEM set up and digital input), completely OFF... my bass has never sounded so good in the mix since the only bass...

My four piece band recently went to all IEM set up and it's worked great! absolutely ZERO stage volume sans the drums... (a sound guy's paradise, let me tell you!) .. the FOH mix has never sounded better through a midsized JBL pa.. there's no goofy frequencies from the stage to balance out...
