    Bass Weight Considerations

My JD is heavy, 5kg, I think that's 11lb. Weirdly I also play Hofner violin. Which is probably the lightest bass out there. Weight is a big issue these days. I also have a Tokai Jazz which is 4kg. Thats about the heaviest I'd buy nowadays. Age is a big factor in this surely.

What Kind of Bass Guitar do you Play (Re-loaded)? BE SURE TO REVOTE!

I've considered buying one of those, the original guy in The Hollies played one. I just can't imagine playing bass with a pick which due to string spacing seems a must. Anyway, back on topic, I always thought if 4 was good enough for PC and Jaco, its more than good enough for me. ;)

Who is your most underrated bassist?...

I've always loved Tony Reeves work on John Mayalls album, Bare Wires. I like how he plays Blues on there with a Jazz feel. Him and Jon Hiseman make an awesome rhythm section. I'm surprised Mayall didn't use them more. There's even a bass solo on the album. On the track Look in the Mirror.

    Painted or Au Natural ?

Yes, I agree with you. I just wanted to get Bass players perception of this, as I say I dont believe it makes any difference to the sound. If it did why dont Fender, Rickenbacker, Ibanez and Yamaha etc oil their Basses ?

    Painted or Au Natural ?

Ive read many times that this lacquer is better than that lacquer (like Nitro/Poly), and Ive read that paint can alter the sound of your Bass. So shouldnt it follow that Warwick Basses should sound better than Fender basses which are all covered in paint and lacquer ? Warwick advertise there...

After 40 years of bands Ive decided to give it away finally. Lesser known bassists who influenced you?

I guess my favourite non famous Bass player would be Tony Reeves who played in John Mayalls Bluesbreakers on the Bare Wires album. I heard this track in about 1970 and wanted to play Bass, loved his solo. Although Jon Hisemans brilliant drumming made me want to play drums, alas no money or space...

    Popularity of Fender basses

imo its because lots of famous players play them, so they are regarded as cool and 'must have' when your a young man/woman, they are also well made and because of their 'cool' the price remains when second hand. I prefer my SR800 Japanese Ibanez to all the Fenders I have owned but its not...

Im not that keen on Squiers, but I do like my SDGR 800 Ibanez, Its a MIJ one so its great quality, only $250 used and a bit roadworn, so it counts as cheap, everything about it is excellent, its done loads of gigs.....you dont have to spend big

Hi to the OP Its a great little amp, every gig we do here in Oz nowadays we are asked to turn down due to A) Neighbour complaints (venues can lose their license if too many complaints) and B) people want to talk (especially the bar staff), I use a similar amp, the Ashdown MiBass 250 watt with a...
