Do consider taking weekly lessons. I have done that besides using the teach-yourself books and that really helps you since you have somebody with you giving you one-on-one instructions. They can see in time what you may be doing wrong and steer you to a better way to improve.

Yeah.. It's kinda funny, it's not an "expensive" bass, it was $350 and I added the extended warranty which in total at the time was about $460 including tax. I had it in lay away for 5 months since my finances are not that great. I was paying from 10 to 30 bucks each payday and they let me do it...
