Here's my old 2001 SR3000 Prestige. Mahogany body, Ibanez pups and preamp, 5-piece wenge/bubinga neck, D-tuner on E, nice tuning machines. Beauty in simplicity. Nothing fancy, but she still looks, plays and sounds great after all these years.
There is, somewhere here on TB, a thread by, IIRC, "WorshipBass" where he sanded down his SR500 to bare wood and restained it and sealed it. It came out looking great, a beautiful color with all kinds of shine to it. But it took him a long time and a lot of work to do this to his SR500. Is it...
My SR3000 has a few dings and scratches that I "touched up" using a Rust-oleum Stain marker. It worked fairly well because 1) the dings/scratches are surface only and 2) my SR3000 truly seems to be a stain only over solid mahogany. Truly a thing of beauty. Being about 17 years old, it is going...
I know that Fender specs their pickup heights as part of their setup guide on their website. But they only seem to offer specs for the bass side and the treble side. Do these specs also apply to a PJ setup? Would the neck pickup and the bridge pickup be set the same?
Well, that dark brown burst is sure pretty. Ain't nuthin' wrong with that! I wouldn't mind a 4-string in that color (if I could find one at a decent price). My old AGB140 was made in China. Interestingly (at least to me), my new AGB200 is made in Indonesia. No matter. Ibanez are doing these...
I love the looks of the Talman basses, Outtaseezun, but 1) it seems to be designed for rock (which my SR650 covers very well) and 2) this particular one is so freaking heavy. My SR650 is only about 7 pounds. But I guess it is the nature of the slab TMBs to be heavy basses. Besides, I really...
I saw that color, Outtaseezun. Pretty. Striking. But maybe a little too progressive for this old man. Ha ha! I had a deep brown single pickup AGB140 for a few years. It was a nice bass. But I wanted the 2 pickups and a shorter scale. The AGB140 is a full 34". There is an older AGB200 from the...
Well, the weight scared me off and I canceled the order. 10 pounds, 10 ounces. I just don't need that hanging from my shoulders. I love the looks. I wish Ibby made the short scale (TMB30) in an upscale model like the TMB600 or even the TMB2000. I realize I could mod it to death, but I'm not...
I picked up this little sweetheart at Sweetwater yesterday! She'll be here tomorrow! Can't wait to get her in my hands. Not truly a hollowbody, but close enough. :)
Well, I got bit. I debated on the TMB100 and TMB300 for a while, but then I found this "last one" TMB600 on Sweetwater yesterday for a good price. Salesman says they are being discontinued. Should get it tomorrow, and, as you might expect, I can't wait. A couple of questions for you seasoned...
I've been wanting one of these since they first came out -- Ibanez SRH500 hollowbody. Well, to be honest it is truly a semi-hollow because it has a block running down the middle. You can put any kind of strings on her that you like. She came with D'Addario Chromes. I might switch those out for...
I know this is an old thread, but does anyone know where to get those LaBella CB40s strings? Amazon does not seem to have them or even show an expired listing for them.
So I got the All Parts pots in (EP-0282-00) and they fit well. The shaft was long enough, they are the right value, and the only thing I had to do was to make the holes in the bass just a bit larger. It was such a small amount that I didn't want to risk a drill. I just used a flat blade...
Yeah, Ibanez should put out a Prestige or a Premium that is short or medium scale length, especially for us players who have physical issues. But they seem to aim their Mikros and Mezzos towards children or young players. I like the TMB30 (short scale) but, again, the componentry is meh. I guess...
I have another one of these Artcores to modify, Bassamatic, and, like Skillet, I found that these particular pots do not have long enough shafts. Even after breaking off the position nib (to give more clearance), the nut barely gets enough bite. There sure is not room to put a tooth washer on...
I've modified 3 of these AGB140s now. I've not noticed any change in overall volume with the mod. And though I would say that the mod seems to be more of a treble cut than anything else, it still doesn't have the full effect of a typical tone control found on other passive basses. It certainly...
Thanks all. The silk is black. The ball ends are gold, red, silver, green. And, yes, compared to the black on the pups, these strings do appear to be a very dark purple in color.
Yes, I know this is going to sound stupid, but I also know how much the members of this forum know, and can humor a stupid question now and then. :)
So I bought this used Ibanez Soundgear. The strings that are on it are shiny black and seem, to me, to be tapewound or maybe flatwound. What I...
Nothing fancy, just an old workhorse from the early 2000s. An Ibanez SR400 in Vintage Blue. I like her a lot. Neck is straight as an arrow with no buzzing. Plays and sounds really good, especially for what I paid for it (my secret).
Update: The action on the Takamine (4mm) was just too high for me. Too hard to play and I simply couldn't "learn to live with it". It would have required a neck reset to fix it and I wasn't about to do that. So I returned it to the seller.
What I ended up buying is a 2007 Fender Victor Bailey...
Okay, so I know how you Clubbers are: "No pictures, it didn't happen!" Here's my beater with new strings, setup, and a little Howard's Feed N' Wax. $300, Hypercarrots. Yeah, turd brown, but I like it anyway!
Hey, thanks to EVERYONE on their opinions of the Korean or Indonesian SR500s. I truly value you guys (and gals if present) for your views and why you think as you do. I didn't doubt that either SR500 was a "bad" bass. They just show, as is typical for Ibanez, progression. I looked at a number of...
So I'm looking for a "beater bass". I'm looking at used SR500s because they seem to be the most bang for the buck. Has anyone noticed a difference between the Korean models and the Indonesian models? I know that the Korean models don't have the mid-freq switch, nor the scooped out neck pocket...
Ok, so I found her stuck back in a corner at Guitar Center. 2004 Fender Victor Bailey Signature ABG. She said, "Take me home." How can you turn down a girl with looks and curves like this? Nice sound with Fishman preamp and bridge and body pickups. I think she likes me. :)
Musical instruments are, as you know, B-Mac, very subjective and personal things. I absolutely love the looks of my Dean ABG. And I love the way it plays. Even though it is what I would consider to be a big AGB, it is well-balanced and sits on my lap nicely. It sounds pretty good acoustically...
I bought this one yesterday. Ibanez AGB200 in Violin Sunburst. I didn't really care for the newer relic'd or antiqued ones, but I love the color on this one. Two humbuckers and 30" scale. Woo hoo! Should be here next Wednesday.
