Just played my acoustic duo's first gig.

The night show went way better. I used my headstock pickholder but ended up not needing it since I didn't drop my pick this time. We also played it way better overall the second time.

Just played my acoustic duo's first gig.

I have one of those headstock pick holders but I forgot to put it on the guitar before the show. There is a show tonight for the parents to watch so I'll use it then in case I drop it again.

Just played my acoustic duo's first gig.

One song at my old school's talent show as an alumni act. It was myself on lead guitar/backing vocals and my band's guitarist on lead vocals/rhythm guitar. I dropped my pick during the first verse and had to play the rest of the song without it. Fun times.

Do you still get nervous before a gig?

After 6 gigs I'm not nervous at all on the stage but my appetite goes away before playing.

Anyone on TB know any famous musicians?

I don't know any famous musicians myself but one of the teachers at the middle school I went to is friends with Green Day and played Jesus Of Suburbia and Longview on guitar with them when they came to Winnipeg a few years ago.

    How old are you?

18 in a week, picked up guitar right after my 16th birthday, picked up bass 4 months after that, joined my band as bassist 3 months after that. Still in that same band with me, the drummer, and both guitarists being constant and we're at a year and a half.

Does your bass collection have a theme?

My theme is the Jazz Bass, I got an MIM Fender Jazz V and a 4 string Jazz knock-off.

    so psyched

On June 8 I've got my first gig since November 2012. This is a major show for my band because we've been trying out new lead singers since our last show. The new singer is so great and I'm so psyched for this show because this is our first show with our (hopefully) permanent line-up and it's...

    Headliner bands and crappy instruments

Yeah I'm not saying the price is what made the bass bad. I have a cheaper bass that I love to death. The band before them had a great bass sound so it wasnt the soundman. It probably did have a lot to do with the player but his bass did sound like mud, almost inaudible mud.

    Headliner bands and crappy instruments

I was watching my guitar teacher's gig last night (I take guitar and bass lessons) and it was him playing solo acoustic songs, an acoustic duet, and then 3 hardcore bands sorta like Of Mice And Men. For whatever reason I always feel the need to check out what guitars and basses the bands at...

I tried one of these in the store today and HOLY CRAP was I blown away! I'm seriously debating adding it to my arsenal to go with my MIM Jazz V.

    Blacktop Jazz Bass

I should mention my band plays some harder rock covers but not insanely heavy, metallica, twisted sister, green day, ramones, judas priest, quiet riot, etc. I love the J because a lot of songs like metal health and we're not gonna take it use the full range of the bass and it just sings in that...

    Blacktop Jazz Bass

I've been thinking about my next bass and I've started looking at the Blacktop Jazz. I have an MIM Jazz V that I love to death and I've thought of getting a P but I don't like the P sound as much. I'm thinking the Blacktop Jazz might give me a bit of both sounds. Anyone played or own one of these?

Famous Bands You Opened Up/Played For

I played a show with Free Ride. They are not famous by any means and are not signed but they are very well known in southern Manitoba, Canada. They play 3 different sets, one with all Beatles covers, a 70s set and a 50s set. They even use the appropriate instruments for each set(Hofner Violin...

    Question - Moody Blues Cover

This song was part of our 3 gigs during our process of finding a new singer(new singer is amazing btw). The first one we did instrumentally, this one our guitarist did the lead vocal, and in the third one him and I shared the lead. This song is very out of context for our band because we play...

Anyone else in love with the jazz bass?

Thanks for all the feedback, I'm also debating getting a better 4 string to go with my 5. I tried out a Lakland Skyline 44-01 the other day and I really liked the sound and feel. Anyone else have one of those?

Anyone else in love with the jazz bass?

This is my first post here. In my band I play a Fender MIM jazz bass V. We do classic rock, modern rock, pop punk, and some metal covers and we're starting to do originals. I find the jazz bass fits in with every song i play, whether I play it with a pick, fingerstyle, or slap. Anyone else in...
