USB problems are frequently caused by faulty cables, or by using a hub. I had problems with my HX Effects failing to connect until I swapped for a good cable and going direct to Mac, NO hub. Try that.

I just swapped out the neck on my bitsa Jazz for a much fatter one (but still with correct 1.5” nut width). It has changed the tone significantly: it is now darker and punchier. I like this very much.

2lb is not a lot to add. How about routing a cavity aft of the bridge area and adding some sheet steel pieces or similar, until it balances ok? Then make and fit a cover for the cavity. Stenback basses have a system for adding brass weights in a body cavity. Out of most folks’ price range tho.

No, by swapping the SUB’s saddles for the shorter ones in the new bridge, I made it necessary to enlarge the holes for the big studs. This was so I could move the studs further apart to accommodate the width of the old barrels. I had to measure VERY carefully the position of the new centres...

I got one of the near copy bridges shown above by Yahboy. I got it to fit my SUB Ray 4, and it looks good, but you don’t want to see the messily enlarged holes I made, thankfully hidden by the studs! One thing to bear in mind is that the bridge barrels on the replacement are about 1mm narrower...

I played one in Guitar Guitar in Glasgow. Gorgeous and amazing bass.

It’s the black bridge and guard that kills the look, IMHO. Tort guard, chrome or nickel metal parts.

I’ve looked extensively for a neck for a SUB Ray 4, to try making a fretless variant. I had no luck, probably because of understandable aggressive brand protection by EBMM. However, I did see some necks on Aliexpress that might be suitable for your purposes.

First class work, Freekmagnet. I believe Gibson use holly for headstock facings. I’m guessing because of high absorbency of finishes and fillers, giving a good base for shiny final finish.

What does it sound like with just the piezos? Still honky?

Yamaha pickups of that type have large lugs at either end, through which the mounting screws pass. The lugs are thinner top to bottom than the main body of the pickup. At least, they do on my two BBG4A’s. I suggest you get some thin black acrylic (Perspex in UK) sheet, and cut out to the outline...

It’s a printed film, not a veneer. If you tilt it around, the flame does not shift in the light. There was an example recently on eBay which had flaking and lifting of the film. Bare wood underneath. I have taken the neck off mine, and there is no separate piece of wood on top. I think it looks...

To revive this thread: I think the bass in the OP's post is mine. I bought it in August 2018 from a guy in UK. (I live in UK.) This is a great sounding and playing bass, well worth the price i paid. I'm looking for a matching fretted version now!
