How many basses do you WANT versus NEED?

I’m not sure what number is too many but I kind of enjoy hunting for and collecting cheap, out of production, giggable players. It’s not really practical at all, but for me it’s kind of a hobby.

What's your rig of choice for this weekend? Part 2.

Tonight I’ll be using: Olp MM3(w/nordstrand), a Hohner B2-AV and a Peavey Dyna 5 all into a Sans-amp bass driver then into a big PA with IEMs and personal monitor mixer. ...so basically my rig consists of a Sansamp and IEMs! Lol

I started playing Bass because I wanted to..…..What’s your reason?

I was playing guitar in a gigging band and we were having trouble finding a reliable bassist that had a clue. Since we had two guitar players, we decided I'd switch to bass and we'd go with one guitarist. Best decision ever! I went from struggling to keep one band alive to juggling three bands...

    Rattle Can Refinish Club

I'm curious what preamp you ended up using. Isn't this a Seymour Duncan pickup in the picture?

Nice! I was just looking at that lime ice paint the other day. Looks good. Were you able to get three coats out of one small can?

    Rattle Can Refinish Club

Advice needed. I just purchased a used OLP MM3 with some dings, chips, scratches... and I'm contemplating a rattle-can refinish but could use some advice. Looking for recommendations/advice from experienced rattle-canners as to how far to strip, how to fill imperfections and what paint to use...

    Headstock Decal Etiquette

Most people know these decals have been around for a long time as well as aftermarket necks so...... If I was buying a $2000 bass, I would make sure I knew what I was buying and would be going by more than a sticker on the headstock.

    Headstock Decal Etiquette

I didn't even know Dewalt made basses! Or is it just a Dewalt neck that some crook slapped on an old pbass body?

    Headstock Decal Etiquette

Oh maybe you shouldn't use that squier neck plate! What if someone thinks it actually a squier? Very deceitful :)

    Headstock Decal Etiquette

I say put one on if you want. What the difference if somebody builds a partscaster and paints it "fiesta red"? Isn't it possible that someday somebody might disassemble that guitar and that body could possibly be mistaken for a fender?

    NBD-Squier Classic Vibe P

Thanks. I'm kinda finding that out too. I had a stingray 4 and I still have a bongo 5. Both are great but i'm starting to realize you can get something perfectly usable for not a lot of dough. I have a ibanez atk305, sx ursa 2, and now the CV. I've gigged with all of them except the sx. I'm...

Yeah I did. I usually check the site multiple times a day and as soon I saw it I called and told them i'd take it and I'd be there to pick it up the next day. When I got there to pick it up the guy at the counter said that he didn't even know they had it and if he would've, he would have bought...

Thanks for the welcome and responses. I haven't tried tightening the peg yet. I didn't pick it up til late Friday and had an early gig on sat. Barely had time to get the flatwounds off, new rounds on and brush up on some songs :) As far as the pickguard, I'm not sure what the deal is there...

    NBD-Squier Classic Vibe P

I just joined talkbass and wanted to post my new bass. Actually picked it up on Friday night and gigged with it yesterday. Got it for a good price and it plays good, sounds good and looks good. My only complaint is one tuning seems to vibrate sometimes.
