I think there are more than that - I have some old AKG K240DF headphones, that I absolutely love (also 600 ohms). Very light on the low end, but I have never heard more detail.

Oh great, now I have to use 3 stacks at gigs? One more and I can do quadraphonic sound!

Similar to cabinets, a composable system for heads might be interesting to design. E.g., D800-, and you can add another 400W with an additional bridged power amp module when you want more. But I think most of us want simplicity and fewer things to remember.

Just measured with my iPhone using NIOSH SLM app. From about 1 ft from front of D800, ~33 dB when amp is off, ~35dB when turned on.

One time my D800 was about to slide off my cabinet (not the fault of the D800, it was a punk band and we were using green Slime on stage), and I could swear I saw Andy pop up from behind the cabinet, push the D800 back to the middle, give me a wink, and then he was gone just like that!

    Harley Benton PB-50 Vintage

New PB-50 owner, I'm gonna wake this thread up... So, I got a PB-50 about 4 months ago. I wasn't expecting much, but one day a box arrived, and it was in my hands. (I have to say, mail-ordering a bass is pretty awesome when it works. People at my office were a little confused when I immediately...

Maybe I should go back to my first DAW for its vintage tone: Google Groups. Man, I was so excited when that came out. No more need to do my punches on the snare hits!

That is an enticing description! I would love to hear another demo other than the official one, in case you care to throw something up in the cloud.

My first gig of any size (~800 people), and one of my first real gigs ever, I played the whole first song without plugging in my cable to my bass because I thought the sound guy did that. Good thing it was a punk band and it didn't really matter :) He was furiously trying to figure out why he...

I've got a D800 and have been reading this thread for a while and drooling over the subway cabs. But, GAS aside, the reality for me is that I have an Audiokinesis TC212 that sounds incredible with the D800. The last large gig I did was easily handled with that rig, and I carried the cabinet...

    New: Zoom B3n Multi-Effects

I think for the kind of level matching being discussed, you could take the bass out of the equation all together and just use a tone generator with some pink noise. You won't be able to hear the sound of the effects properly, but at least for matching master output to bypass levels, this would...

The only way to get new effects is by using the Guitar Lab software from Zoom. You will find a few patches in the forum here: B3n patch library. Patches tend to be posted by writing out the parameter numbers, etc., in the forum, but I did build a site where you can upload and download patch...

Zoom B3n - Guitar Lab, OMG WTH

The news is...I stopped for a while 'cause I got to a hard part, and ran short on time. But I'm still picking away at it. I can already do all the patch manipulation functions Guitar Lab can, but editing patch parameters is many times harder in terms of figuring out the data structures. I'll...

I just got a D800, can someone summarize this thread for me? ;) So far I have exactly one rehearsal under my belt with it. Only great things to say so far! I play with a pretty loud band but kept having to turn down, my bass was just so forward and clear. I think we're gonna get along just fine.

Essential Gigging Gear - From Novice to Pro

I think of it as looking out for each other. I've had guitarists lend me patch cables, drummers lend me gaffer tape. And years of people helping me carry big, heavy cabinets. But sure, if someone is taking advantage of you, put a stop to it. Those things aren't mutually exclusive. Also, I...

Essential Gigging Gear - From Novice to Pro

Great answers here. I'm kind of surprised at how many people are saying a DI. I have literally never needed one, and have been gigging for 35 years. Maybe I got lucky? Two things not mentioned yet that I always have and come in useful pretty often: a drum key, and a pair of drumsticks. The...

    New: Zoom B3n Multi-Effects

I power my pedal (a G5N actually) with a USB battery pack like this [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] that I plan on attaching with velcro to the side of the Zoom. I don't use a pedalboard, since the Zoom is my one and only pedal, and I like it as low to the ground as possible so I can rock my...

    New: Zoom B3n Multi-Effects

As soon as you do any tweaking (and even before that, because it can change based on the freq response and level of the input signal), the output levels will vary anyway. E.g., I turn up the gain to get a lot more distortion, level goes way up. What would be more useful, I think, is to provide...

Since we're giving our Xmas lists, I've been really good and am hoping for a new B7n ;) And a decent compressor effect. I don't care if it takes 3 slots, it would be worth it.
