questions about a 1977? Fender Precision bass I am thinking of selling..

The pickups and pots most likely date / came with the body, they aren't vintage. The pickups should have grey bottoms with a stamp and the pots at least should have nylon shafts. I had a '77 burst and this doesn't match.

Vintage bass refinished : winner or loser

I'd already own it if it were local at that ridiculous price, then just refinish to its factory state and still be way ahead. It's been for sale for a week, nobody brave enough? OP send it my way :D

The Official Fender Precision Bass Club (Part 8)

Hard to show in pics, but the headstock is flamed and the backside of the neck is too. It's 10lbs even, really happy with this one - and this era...they sound sooo good.

The Official Fender Precision Bass Club (Part 8)

I have this S8 serial with a very nice flamed maple neck (and bad-ass cig burn on the headstock too). To my knowledge, a flamed maple neck wasn't an option from factory just pure luck of the draw?

Help identify what is original on this 70's P-bass

It's not a refin. It still has the white gunky polishing powder in the cavities from the factory and factory marking under the pickups.

Help identify what is original on this 70's P-bass

Yeah you're 90% of the way there and everything checks out....dimarzio model P pickups and a bad-ass bridge, pretty common changes.

    reverb.com scam?

Probably an extremely common thing to avoid the fees. Buyer beware though since you lose all protection moving off the platform so you have to trust it, totally up to you on how to proceed.

    Tony Franklin Signature Bass Club

I wonder if there is an explanation - Maybe a small batch went out with the TV logo in 2008? Here's another example, from a 2008:

    Tony Franklin Signature Bass Club

Has anyone heard of the early versions having the TV logo decal on the headstock instead of the smaller post '76 version? Looking at one now, but it has the old logo, the serial is legit and matches with a TF signature, but the decal does not...

    Fender Precision 1975 - Price?

That bass has been for sale for literal years, I've made an offer on it. The seller clearly doesn't want to sell it nor is the store motivated to help him. As for this bass; Olympic white commands a premium and it has aged out beautifully. They sell from $2000-$3500 based on colour and...

Fuzzrocious Club - The One to Rule them All.

Interested but the shipping + exchange just absolutely kills it. Interested to hear everyones thoughts that did pick one up. How close would the in-line Cat Tail get to this pedal? Or anything currently comparable?

    1974/75 fender precision bass

Most likely the bass has its original pickups (along with the pots) - You can take off the plastic cover if it has burgundy wire they are indeed correct.

    1974/75 fender precision bass

Interesting, I have a '74 with a low 5 serial (long G bridge screw) and it has grey bottoms, thought the black bottoms were earlier. Thanks for the correction - no stamp on them either?

    1974/75 fender precision bass

It's real and is a '74 (an early '74)...has replacement pickups though (somewhat common for them to fail / need rewinding) and the original pickguard was white.

Is this a Geddy Lee jazz bass with 60s pickup spacing?

Its not a JB75 since those were 3 bolt necks? The CIJ on the back of the neck and the limited edition neck plate makes me think this is one of the early years (pre 2000) But comparing it to this bass, it looks slightly off SOLD - Geddy Lee CIJ *1998 First Year Ltd. Ed*

Fender Precision - looking for some input

At the very end of the run, in '82 there is a gold outline on the fender script in the logo, white pickups and the bridge plate is just ever so thicker than the ones used up until that point. I like the '82s they are pretty rare and last of the 'vintage' style from '76 onwards before they made a...

[Poll] Who is truly interested in a 70s Precision reissue?

Depends if its 1970-1976 or '77+ I had a '77, sounded wicked but hard to play and was heavy...post '76 is when the finishes got super thick I didn't think the '77 was all that, aside from being road worn and authentic. I have a pair of '74s now, and they're beauties. Both in Natural (one in...

    P Bass Serial

I would bet that's a '78 being walnut finish, they used S9 serials for the end of the production so I do not believe it's later than '78. Those pickups were a popular mod back in the day too. Great looking bass. Only way to know for sure is to open it up

    NBD 1975 Fender P Bass

I have a pair of natural '74s (maple and rosewood) the maple has the best neck I've ever played. They're both natural, but would absolutely love an olympic white one, it's my all-time, they are hard to come by locally.

Fender Mod Shop Price Increase $300 Overnight - February 23 2022 - FYI for other products

Well firstly the price increases do not happen overnight, management would know and forecast the prices increasing months in advance. Did I just buy a fake MIJ JB62?

That's just a MIJ jazz standard, the JB62 is so popular it kind of took the defacto standard slot but this is just a regular, modern jazz - not a fake, it just wasn't listed correctly and the reduced price you paid would probably reflect its true value anyway.
