Ok, that explains why only electric basses aren't ever made that way. Upright basses commonly have V profile and occasionally guitars. My friend has a G&L strat and telecaster pair both with hard V profile.

thanks primussucks9126- I didn't know Warmoth did truss rods from the heel on non tilt back headstocks. Looks like the thing to do. I'll just french polish the neck to match the body. The body is about half way through being shellac polished.

Yes OP you're right about good intonation taking a lot of practice with different technique. I'd definitely get another mikro to de-fret or have defretted.

Have you tried ironing those square tipped picks? A little water, heat and pressure might be all they need.

My guitar player friend has a pair of little spark amps! They're impressive with guitars. I always bring my pjb double four because I didn't think the spark would sound good with bass.

Generally for slap I lean towards Jazz-bass based basses or active circut basses. The action may be the bigger factor than the bass its self. Yamaha BB series and Tune are yet to be mentioned stand outs.
