12's?!! For Bass?!! Oh come now! Really?!!

Well put!
So you're trying to tell ME, that a 2x12 cab. is gonna be deeper, punchier, warmer and clearer than a 1x15? (or two 1x15's)? I'm a firm believer that 15's are the ultimate cones/cabs for Bass guitar, and now someone comes along and tells me that 12's are where it's at for Bass! Are you serious?
It's been a lot of years since I used a 2-15" cabinet, but I gigged constantly with one for at least 12 years, a Peavey with BW speakers, and I never had any complaints, other than on load-ins and load-outs.
I used cabinets with 10"s for a lot of years after that, and about 10 years ago I tried a pair of 1-12" cabinets, and I was very surprised at how great they sounded and performed. I still have my 1-12" cabinets and about 6 years ago I bought a pair of 2-12" cabinets that I really like, for when I really need the volume.
I can't say how well my 12's compare to my 15's or 10's, but I like them a lot.
This is the best 12" cab I've ever owned. FWIW it also boast a 6" and 1" horn. It can cover almost any gig with or without FOH support.

Been gigging a Genz NeoX 212t for 4 years. Killer cab, plenty of lows and highs and only weighs 52lbs.
This picture is from the Paradise Rock Club in Boston. They typically have national acts there. I didn't even need to push the master past 2. This rig will rip your face off.

That's one of the things that really surprised me about my Mesa. I was in a acid rock band and used to an ampeg fridge and playing deafeningly loud. First show with the mesa, I start my sound check at my normal amp settings and was so startled at how loud it was. Almost jumped hahahaha!
Geez I must be confused. Currently own 2 x NV115s, Fender Neo 410, 610, and Eden 212xlt!
All of them have great characteristics, especially when paired with the right Amp!

Been a faithful 12 guy for awhile now. Once the "modern" 12inch drivers hit the scene (it's actually been some time now) I was sold. 15's too. Some are amazing. Just as good or better in some cases but too large for my tastes. 12's are perfect.
I only really need one but two of these babies are earth shattering. The Markbass is a 12 as well. I've gotten some killer tones out of that little guy too.

Contrary to what many believe, bigger is not necessarily better ... just different. I'm quite happy with my stack of two 12" GB cabs, and like it more than the 4x10 and 1x15 Ampegs I used to use. haven't read through the thread but thought I's make a mention. With my cabs the 12" based cabs are the punchiest and most visceral. The ten inchers are a bit smoother--still really punchy, but the 12's beat them. The 15"ers are fatter and warmer but not as much "pop". They all extend to the same point in the lows.
These are my drivers in my cabs. There are punchy 12's and flabby 12's. It's not the size but the parameters that the designer was going for. Even within a manufacturer---Eminence, Faital and Beyma all have 12's that I like and 12's that I don't.
