Damn, like Jimmy said "that sounds like work". I've never pulled an SVT apart, should i even bother? I guess it might be a good chance to replace the cracked old power cord while i've got it out. The chassis should be self contained correct? A few bolts and it slides right out? Looks like i might also have to pull the plastic clip connection for the fan.

Also, i've read that these things can hold a charge, but that shouldn't be an issue unless i'm poking around the underside... correct?

Yep, then flip it over and have a look, (you can check the cap's to see if they're needing attention), the back of the pot's will give you a rough date of manufacture, I think we have one so far that had 68 pot's in

Would be great to see a pic of the guts too.

the chassis slides out in two parts...bottom half with the driver and power tubes, top half with faceplate and pre tubes.

looks like you could use some new filter caps (one of them looks to be replaced, but the others are originals).

nice '69! mine looked almost that dirty/crusty when i took my '69 apart the first time too.

What I nice 69! Looks like a fantastic candidate for a restoration project. It's amazing how amps like that can be brought back to like new condition. The fun is in the process, the rewards are in playing it afterwards.
