2 Notes Opus

I don't use it for distortion. If you want the whole package I would suggest a DG infinity. I had one and sold it because I ran out of room on my board and I bought a CAPO. I do miss the 3 channels of DG dirt and grind, they really were the best.

There is a single pre-amp section on the element, honestly it's underwhelming and I don't use it.

There are stock and artist series cab sims in the DG, probably about 20 off the top of my head and up to 10 IR's, some with multi-positions and 45 degree offsets. There are 5 presets to slot all these into. I do not yet have an OPUS, however all the options seem much more robust on the OPUS and I'm willing to bet, the end result probably sounds better.

Is it "better" enough to justify the additional cost. YMMV. For me the element does what I need it to do, that being said, the OPUS will also do what I need it to do, however I'm always hunting for that 10/tenths.

I'm currently running an analog pedal board in poweramp\cab. Board is simple - compressor, drive, EQ and preamp.

I'd like to try this to get an Ampeg amp type flavour (that includes some power tube drive emulation). Could the Opus do that?

If it can, I can then configure the XLR to have all that combined with a cabsim for FOH.
 
I love my element! I'm going to add an OPUS to A/B

For me, the Element has 2 things the OPUS does not have, BT Audio In from my mobile device, and audio interface out with split tracks, 1 for the bass signal and the second for the BT audio/aux input. I don't really use the audio interface out. But the BT audio in is golden.
I mentioned it above, but i got a bluetooth adapter fora few quid off of amazon and it works great on the Opus aux in.

Thanks for reaching out, Ross from Two notes here. You certainly can action this kind of setup using the LINE OUT ROUTING Mode for the 1/4-inch TRS Output.
  • First, from the Preset Window on OPUS’ OLED display, push the right encoder to enter the Main Menu
  • Then, navigate to the “Global” Menu (indicated by a cog icon) using the right encoder to scroll through the sections and push the right encoder to enter this menu.
  • Once inside the Global Menu, scroll to “Line Out Routing” using the right encoder
  • You can then use the right encoder to select where in OPUS’ DSP architecture the signal for the ¼-inch Line output is fed:
    • NO PROCESSING: The LINE output sends the dry input signal from OPUS without any processing. Please note, this non-processed signal still passes through OPUS' DSP and therefore features the same latency as the signal feeding the XLR DI output. The latency can be configured in the AUDIO PERFORMANCE menu.
    • AFTER TSM PREAMPLIFIER: The LINE output sends the signal after the PREAMP (in that setting, the NOISE GATE has no effect on the signal).
    • AFTER TSM POWER AMPLIFIER: The LINE output sends the signal after the PREAMP, POWER AMP and NOISE GATE within OPUS
    • AFTER CAB SIM: The LINE output sends the signal post the volume levels of the DynIR cabinet emulation microphone channels within OPUS
    • AFTER POST FX: The LINE output sends the signal featuring all DSP processing within OPUS. With this setting, the LINE and DI outputs send the same processed signal
I would suggest taking the 1/4-inch out and lining this into your poweramp. Then using the options above, select either the AFTER TSM PREAMPLIFIER or AFTER TSM POWER AMPLIFIER options. The XLR out will always feature the full processing so you have a Preamp, Poweramp, DynIR and Post FX signal chain to send to FOH.

Please be advised, you can also set the LINE OUTPUT ROUTING via the SETUP menu in Torpedo Remote, accessible from the main window via the EDIT menu. The different options are listed in the drop down menu next to LINE OUT ROUTING.

I’m excited to try the OPUS with the Revolt and the midi control. I can’t quite wrap my head around it, but from what I gather I can control a specific cab sim in the opus for each channel in revolt.

I used to own an infinity, but the lack of a send and return was just enough to let it go.

I have a question about the FX in the OPUS. How are those routes? I run thru a H9 max for basic fx. Can the OPUS replace that?

Indeed, channel changes on ReVolt can be used to send program changes to OPUS to switch presets within OPUS' preset list; this way, you can customise a cab emulation on separate presets in accordance with ReVolt's channels - you also have the added benefit of customising power-amps in these presets for greater flexibility.

In terms of the FX in OPUS, they are positioned after the Cabinet emulation. What FX are you using in the H9 specifically? If you can let me know, I can advise whether OPUS can replace this.

Thanks for getting back to me. OPUS could certainly replace this in your signal chain if it is just reverb you are using as it features a multi-model verb algorithm. Let me know if there is any other info you need in this respect.
 
I have an OPUS incoming. Can I control the presets via a midi switch?

for example, if I have 5 different presets with specific cab sims and IRs, can I control the switching via a midi controller pedal?

You should be able to. I have the Opus set up for different presets depending on what channel my ReVolt is on using the MIDI out from the ReVolt

I'm erring towards the Opus, as it seems to have more options for tweaking the sound, possibly a bigger range of amp/cab sims and it's a newer product- so perhaps better sound quality? But on the downside, a lot of it is more guitar focused.
Depending on the sound you're after this might not be such a downside. Often I end up mixing and matching guitar amps with bass cabs, or bass amps with guitar cabs, in the Opus. I don't have the Element so I don't know if it has all the mic'ing options the Opus has, but with the Opus the selection of mic(s) and location can further vary the sound quite a bit.
