2 Notes Opus

Hadn't had a purely IEM gig in quite a while; I realize I'm using last year's model, but still thought it was the bee's knees. The sound check was a disaster, so there was no time to get an in-ear mix. The vocals and guitars sounded like fried ass... but the bass sounded sweet as a peach, and punched through their hot mess like a knife through warm butter.

Also, gotta love an "amp" that fits in the front pocket of a pedalboard case!

Man this looks really awesome. Especially with the Mesa Subway IR's...I could probably get my DI signal sounding nearly identical to my amp sound (and I love how everything sounds through my Mesa cab).

Can you get the preamp/power amp to be relatively transparent? Maybe just run a power amp? I use a Trickfish amp which is pretty clean and I'd like to get close to that.

As far as I know, you can choose to not engage any preamps or power amps, if you don't want. I'm still using the Torpedo, not Opus, but if you don't want the preamp, you simply keep it turned off. I use a Sushi Box preamp on my board, and then run that to the Mesa IR in the Two Notes, for my "amp" sound. It's brilliant!

Thanks! I may use the Noble preamp in the HX stomp and run into a clean power amp/cab IR then. Or something completely different...good to know the flexibility is there.

Took delivery of this thing today and I'm already impressed. I'm not using the full functionality of it, but with the power amp, Mesa Subway IR, and the EQ, I can get some killer DI tone. It gets really close to my amp/cab tone as well so all my pedal settings work great for both (which is what I was after).

One thing I don't care for is the preamp models; they sound like hot garbage, but that's probably just because of where they're at in the chain. If I was only using the Opus they would probably sound better....but I didn't get it for the preamps anyway.

Beats the hell out of any other DI option I've tried so far and that's with only spending an hour with it.

Actually I am having a weird issue with this unit. I just submitted a support ticket, but I thought I would ask here to see if anyone else has experienced this.

After getting it setup how I like it, I've noticed that when I play a B note (anywhere on the fretboard) this produces a weird harmonic sort of high pitched ringing.

To eliminate other possible culprits I have removed the Opus and run the DI from my HX stomp and it disappears. I also tried running the Opus bypassed into my amp and again, no issue. So this is specifically with the effected DI signal in the Opus.

Did you go hyper realistic and program in a microphonic tube? How does one change out a bad digital tube? lol

I did some more tests...I changed the line out on the Opus to an effected signal and didn't get the same noise through my amp. Also tried running the stomp as my interface going direct to the monitors, and it was there...just had to crank it up more.

Presumably the Stomp and the Opus are pushing different frequencies so one is more prevalent than the other...so I guess the culprit is actually the studio monitors. Really weird that they only have this noise on B notes...

Hi @kln_bc

Ross from Two notes here. That is indeed very strange but great work on the testing. I have a similar problem with some monitors in my office with certain bass notes - regardless of whether i line direct to interface or via a preamp. For some reason I hit a resonant frequency that causes a buzz. However, our support team have your ticket and they will do some research on this for you to see whether anything can be done on the OPUS side of things!

Daughter has some friends over so I'm hidden away in my bedroom, but i can still play.

I got a bluetooth adapter for the aux in so i can play along to whatever.

Im really loving the Opus. I would love to see more bass focus. Preamps, presets and such!

@Ross Davies Would it be possible to have Preamp+Poweramp+PostFX (but no CabSim) and/or Preamp+PostFX (but no Poweramp & CabSim) Line Out routing? Of course always having the complete signal thru DI out.

DI out goes to FOH, but a lot of times i have an amp onstage. I bypass its preamp (using FX return or poweramp in) but it would be really useful to turn off Opus Poweramp (because i’m using the onstage amp power) and of course CabSim (for i’m using the amp real cab). But having PostFX would be really handy; i use it mainly as a HPF/LPF but could use reverb as well.

Thanks for getting in touch - this is indeed an interesting feature request for sure! At present this is not possible, however I have fed this back to the team now for consideration! Thanks again!

I just got an Opus today and was amazed at how quickly I could dial in a great sounding bass rig for my IEM mixer.

Not tried it in the whole band mix yet but I already love it more than the Cab M+. Weirdly I hadn't even heard of it until one popped up on Reverb at a bargain price. It must have been lost in the noise of the Revolt coming out previously.

Hi @Plastalmonus,

Fantastic! We're so pleased to hear it's working well for you!

@AmyTwonotes

I have been using the Opus as a pre-amp into my rig with no amp/cab sim but for FOH I'd like to have the full pre-amp/amp/cab sim. Is there a way to send a different preset to FOH via DI than what I'm sending out of the 1/4" to my amplifier? Or is there a way to have a preset that is just using the pre-amp of the a preset for the 1/4" and the DI XLR is using the pre-amp/amp/cab sim? I see that I can split the signal, but from how I understand it the 1/4" can't be just the pre-amp while the DI gets the entire sim.

yes, the 1/4 out can be just pre or pre and power amp whereas the XLR sends EVERYTHING
