2 Notes Opus

I got one of these last week and I can finally say say that I have the headphone tone I’ve been looking for. I was interested in a Helix but couldn’t justify the cost since I already have pedals for most of the effects I like. Practicing is so much more enjoyable with great tone. I also really like being able to run dry and wet signals out for recording.

Amazing news here! Did you know you get a Copy of GENOME with your OPUS purchase?

If you have any questions concerning this, I am always happy to help!

Getting there...

Just added the Boss BC-1X & SA 161 Expression Pedal, channel #1 midi connections (including OPUS) are in place and have some pedestal sections for the small pedals.

Still need MO-2, RE-202 & SYB-5 to be completed.

@Ross Davies can you please help me with some info please?
I’m thinking of integrating the opus with a Capo and a Reddi for the final DI.
Can I use the line out of the opus to go into the loop of a preamp( capo in this case) ?
I was searching a solution to put the capo in parallel somehow with the preamp.
Bass>capo>opus in the loop> reddi

I know i can go from the reddi into the line in on the capo but i would like to keep the clean signal without using two channels on the desk

Thanks for getting in touch. The setup is possible for sure as you have described, but if you can let me know what you would like to achieve with OPUS, I can certainly help you out. Its a shame the Capo doesnt have a dry wet blend as you could certainly run this in parallel with OPUS!

The goal would be to run the Opus as amp/vab sim in parallel to a clean signal

The nice thing on that CAPO is I/O with Pre SEND or THRU (with RETURN/Loop) AND a Post SEND-LINE OUT (with RETURN/Loop) then the OUTPUT.

Plus the pre-DI (XLR) & post-XLR Output...

Then you have the OPUS DI & 1/4" OUTPUT

AND the Reddit DI

For my own curiosity, why the need for the Reddit?

I can see why a Wet/Dry mix would be useful, but perhaps with the A>B BLEND KNOB would perhaps be helpful? That would be like pushing a clean (pre-signal/A side - amp/sim) into B side and then out to the Reddi because you don't like the Capo onboard pre or post DI XLR outputs?

It's not true parallel processing like I think you want, but can only use a single input to your desk perhaps.

(I'm running post-OPUS (no sim) WET stereo effects processing with the 1/4" OUTPUT SPLIT with the "unprocessed" Opus DI (amp/sim) "DRY" for mixing but requires three desk inputs.)

I wonder what you would get running the Capo pre-SEND/THRU to OPUS and use 1/4" OUTPUT to the Capo post-RETURN and then the OUTPUT to your Reddi? OPUS could be master clean volume and Capo B side volume would be on master volume??

Just thinking out loud 🔊

I have now consulted the best Feng Shui volumes and have cleared the runway for the inbound and quantified remaining cable requirements...

I have moved the Boss RE-202 Space Echo up inline to be delivered over the holidays. It will take up the lower right corner. ;)

After cable gymnastics I have the Boss MO-2 sitting by the BC-1X being feed by the post-Opus (no cab sim) output. (I will jump under from the BC-1X to the Boss SYB-5.) WET output to the OC Crimson Red Bass Preamp to #2 channel of the Spectrum Intelligent Filter. DRY output to #1 channel. Mix down to mono out to the Broughton BBA and into OPUS.

(Stereo Effects: MO-2>SL-2>RE-202>RC-5>EQ2)

Dual Expression control for midi selectable #1 MV on EQ2 wet line OR possible alternate Spectrum functions on dry line. #2 on the SYB-5 (Exp Input) for the tailoring of LFO/Envelope response if/when engaged.

A few more ideas for a dual momentary switch for RC-5 Looper and a 1" x 10" whiteboard strip below the SA Soleman for settings notes.

2-5 rig midi control selectable menu on OPUS...

I'll probably need to wear a protective lead apron and goggles when I have Igor switch on the juice...

Thanks for getting back to me. Have you considered running the Dual Mono routing on OPUS. Here you can set your Wet signal to come out of the XLR while simultaniously running a Dry unaffected signal from the Line Output. More info in our user guide below where I have quick-linked the related section.

In this instance, you could feed the Capo with the Dry Line from OPUS.

From what I can see, you will still need a device to blend both signals unless you send the Capo to one channel on a Mixer and the OPUS XLR to another.

Let me know if this helps!

How do you like that Soleman?
[Sorry if you already commented on it elsewhere in the thread, I haven't read much of it yet, but I intend to.]
It's great, especially if you have Source Audio pedals. There are 3 different modes to set up stuff that interface with the HUB, midi clock, Expression Pedal connection and external auxiliary switches.

It has a UI on the SA Nuero Editor link on the website.

I have the SA Spectrum and EQ2 with OPUS on #1

All of the Boss pedals (RE-202, RC-5, SL-2) are on #2

Built like a brick sh*thouse.

I like it!

Thanks!

It would probably be a while before I purchase the Soleman (assuming that I do buy an Opus).

Does the Opus Enhancer do a decent job of compression for bass guitar?

The OPUS does everything well...HOWEVER, you need to know (if you don't) that that tool group is POST-Cabinet IR, not just on the preamp/power amp section. The OPUS is, at its heart, a recording solution that has a "master EQ" before it leaves the box. I run compression at the front of the signal chain.

Now, you can do as I do and apply the Cab IR (with OPUS EQ) to the DI only and run the preamp/power amp IR section (without OPUS EQ) to the 1/4" output. It is recommended that Delay and Reverb be done AFTER the OPUS. I run a wet stereo effects line in this manner. I run the EQ2 as a wet stereo effects loop master EQ at the end of the loop before the L/R desk/FOH outputs.

(EQ-HPF/LPF, Limiter, Gate, Volume Pedal, Boost)

A word about OPUS midi and SA pedals. I have a full midi SA pedal (EQ2) and a midi capable pedal (SPECTRUM). The Spectrum requires the SA 168 midi adapter ($49).

You can run the OPUS off this adapter from the 1/8" TRS THRU with a standard Boss midi cable. The OPUS has only midi in, not out/thru.

I hope this helps...

The owner's manual describes the 'Body' control in the Enhancer as compression.

The portion from the user's manual.
this is true, but it’s post cab sim and at a fixed freq with no controls for anything but level. Nothing against the enhancer, I add some to my signal because it sounds better, but for actual dynamic control on the bass, you will want to run a comp in front of the pre/ pwr amp.

Thanks for the info.

I can see I have a lot to learn.
