2 Notes Opus

Hey @ZombiiBass,

Thanks for getting in touch and thanks to everyone for weighing in here! Our suggested connectivity method would be to use ReVolt as your Preamp and OPUS as your Poweramp Simulator, DynIR Cab Emulator and Post FX unit. This gives you the flexibility of ReVolt's FX Loop as well as an all analog front-end and a digital back-end. In actuality, this is how I have my rig configured at the moment and it works a treat!

In terms of connecting both units, I would suggest coming out of the 1/4-inch OUT output into the Instrument Input of OPUS and set the input selector on OPUS to Line - its that simple!

You will then need to create some OPUS presets, however if you scroll through the preset list there are some that start with "LB" - these were created by me and are designed to be used with a ReVolt Bass in the front end! A great starting point and can serve as good inspiration for your own Presets!

If you want to MIDI sync both devices, you can use a standard 1/8-inch Aux cable to link both devices. You will then see OPUS' presets change as you change channels on ReVolt. Simply move your presets you want to use to each of ReVolt's channels to the first 3 slots of OPUS and you are set!

Let me know if this helps!
Excellent thanks so much!

After some more mental gymnastics around sound and capabilities, potential total cost and flexibility...I am pulling the trigger on a couple more pedals next week for this final design:

P Bass >

Source Audio SPECTRUM > Pre-filter effects loop <
(Mooer FOG Bass Fuzz, Pigtronix Philosophers Bass Micro, One Control Crimson Red Preamp) > Two Notes Opus > Source Audio EQ2/Tap Tempo Switch (split signal wet/dry-amp) Source Audio MODULATION (stereo) Boss SL-2 Slicer (stereo) > Boss RE-202 Space Echo (stereo) > Boss RC-5 Looper (stereo)

This load will be SA Spectrum and the Boss RE-202 (if the price match happens!) or the SA EQ2?

I'm inclined to the Spectrum and EQ2/Tap Tempo Switch retail terms and grab the SA Modulation on the pre-owned cash market next week.

That leaves the end of the chain Boss RE-202 and RC-5 for next month post-election with Black Friday and Cyber Monday on my favorite go-to music store promotional terms!

Done!!

Then it's picture time... :woot:

Update: Just pulled the trigger on the SA GEMINI with the Midi router device ($50) as new for $110.00 on my other go-to music store Reverb! (That place is crazy on Black Friday/Cyber Monday...)

Dang! This is sounding killer!

I may need to start updating my board! Counting down to picture time on my end for sure!

I decided to bite the bullet on the Boss RE-202 due to potential best price match cost and finding out what is going on inside that tape echo with more selectable REVERB that the RE-2 and RE-20 do not. The RE-20 does have a 6 second delay capability, but having other than spring reverb makes it a best choice and it just sounds amazing with synthy vibes...

With the current conversation involving the post-Opus effects and related issues as I cobble together a sound design system with OPUS at its center. I am speaking here with Two Notes, but also the Source Audio team, as the issue resolutions, interoperability, sound quality and flexibility caused me to have Source Audio before and after OPUS for best results.

I have learned that the Midi implementation connections for, in this case, the Spectrum and Gemini create a situation that I would like to point out after my contact from Source Audio;

I will be using the SA SOLEMAN in the near future for Midi control. It seems logical, but not absolutely required. The Soleman has two Midi 5 DIN out ports. In my chain only the EQ2 supports this connection. The controller will connect to EQ2 then 5 DIN out to the SA168 Midi router device with midi TRS cable included. Then Midi out with TRRS cable to SPECTRUM 1/8" control port.

The question came up regarding the SA168 1/8" THRU port? As it turns out in this scenario I will need another SA168 connected to the first units Midi THRU port with 1/8" TRS and then Midi out of the second SA168 to the Gemini with 1/8" TRRS to control port.

I bring this up for this reason. You could use the same THRU 1/8" TRS Midi cable to go to the OPUS Midi input. (I will not use Midi for the OPUS, due to my more static one stage one amp philosophy.) I will obtain another SA168 to connect to the Gemini. Additionally, the Midi connection to EQ2 and the SPECTRUM is fully implemented for recall of 128 presets and all functions. In the case of the Gemini Midi will only recall the six (6) stored selector switch presets. It is an older One Series pedal, but that is sufficient for my requirements.

The Soleman #2 5 DIN Midi OUT will go to the Boss pedals that are all 1/8" Midi TRS compatible with I/O on both the RE-202 Space Echo and the RC-5 Looper and terminate at the SL-2 Slicer that has only Midi IN feature.

Midi Clock will be an important feature in this system and the Soleman has this feature, but it could be provided from an external source with the 5 DIN Midi IN port that is available on the Soleman.

...we now return you to our sponsor....

Sounds like a prudent course of action for sure. I have the RE-20 but will need to check out the 202 by the way - was reading up on this, this morning and sounds like it is right up my street!

@Ross Davies I tried the 4 cable method with the Dicosimo and mod effects on the out. My hope was to see what this would sound like on an ampless rig. OMG!!! Total game changer on how that Revolt puts out. Thanks for the suggestion!

@PhatBottomBass1 I got the new board in. Going to work, but I'll post soon. Much better.

So now I have more questions. Lol

I'm not very attached to this zoom B2 Four. It's great on its own... but I don't think it's gonna stay on the board. With that said... I've been searching for effects that go well with this, and I actually am finding this a daunting task. All the effects units i look at are either equipped to eliminate this board, which i don't want, or they are WAY too big for me to want. So I've been looking at a few, even though I'm not sure on any. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated on these or ANY other multieffects pedals that would seem appropriate.

Hx stomp
Headrush mx5
Boss gt1000 (core?)
Jump back in time... Boss MS-3
Crazy Tubes Sidekick plus another option

These will be used for phase, flange, chorus, delay, reverb (mainly plate), noise gate/ suppressor if needed, and experimentation on any others.

I'm trying to decide if I'm putting the three Boss pedals on a 14" board and the others on a 20" so I'm not packing everything all the time. I'll probably end up with a 24" x 12.5" and pack it all...

Great! I am so glad to hear the 4CM worked well - it's a great feature of ReVolt Guitar and Bass and really helps extend any rig!

Ah MultiFx - it's not really my personal bag as I am more of a fan of a good solid foundation tone (P-Bass all the way baby!); however in a previous role I did work for inMusic / HeadRush and I am a fan of the flexibility the HeadRush ecosystem provides - there's also a tonne of great sounding FX in this device which I really enjoyed playing with! We also see a lot of users on our Facebook communities using the HX stomp - it pairs great with both ReVolt and our OPUS hardware and I have heard some killer results with this. My suggestion would be - if possible / practical - head to a store to demo both units and see if the FX on-board work well in the context of your rig / tone - these kind of things tend to be a personal preference so it's best to give it a whirl before you commit in my opinion!

Cheers all...

My Two Schellings...

P Bass for sure!

I have to agree that multi-effects are a compromise in performance for a compact solution that will be passable for many and in a lot of cases sufficient, certainly for lo-fi guitar...Bass not so much IMHO.

I have yet to really get into the Line 6 thing for Bass amps/effects. The Vari-Axe Bass is a solution for several "pickups" and basic tone profiles. However, amplification and sonic hi-fi manipulation is a different matter. I've tried, used and turned loose of every Line 6 Bass product I've every layed my hands on over sound quality. I just had an HX One, while interesting, it was not as impressive on Bass as it seems to be for guitar.

I purchased a new Boss ME-90B, had it for 2.5 days and reboxed it and sold it within 1 day. Didn't loose a dime in the process.

I can't try everything either, but listening to a bunch of available sound samples helps, reading on technical information for function and operability helps, so does experience, and revisiting things that may have worked better in situations can create solutions to function. Everything is a trade-off and cost, availability and interoperability are among them.

I just decided to move from the MXR POLY BLUE OCTAVE in favor of the SA Spectrum Intelligent Filter, because it has not only the same basic ingredients as the PBO, but many more options and an excellent sonic quality and other advanced features. This current undertaking needs to be as hi-fi as possible after a nice analog front end and what the system design is going to be capable of will exceed a single multi-effects processor for sound flexibility, abundant sonic variation and system expandable integration potential.

Yeah I'm not in any rush on the effects. I have most of my foundation tones started and still have a lot of work to tweak all of them into presets, so I'm content. Was just curious on the multi effect. Fortunately, sweetwater is only a2 hour drive for me, so I'll go check it out next time I'm at the Fort.

I've leaned the same way in line 6 products. They sound amazing on guitar, not so much on MY bass. Lol. They sound good, but not what I'm looking for. I was hoping the new lineups would be different, but the stomp and hxone have the same effects I believe, so I won't hope for much.

I'll probably end up just keeping the zoom for fly effects if needed and team it with the Revolt and Opus.

I looked into that spectrum. As well as a C4. They both look interesting and versatile. I've heard mixed things about the UI on Source Audio. Never owned any so I can't comment on that, but it shied me away from them, even with the awesome sounds I heard from the videos I watched.

The SA UI is probably the most in-depth platform I've ever seen/used. It is a commitment to be sure. I went with the Spectrum over the C4 because it is what really fits the requirements best without going overboard on sonic space I don't need to fill. C4 is too much. By the same token, the Boss RE-202 has more of what makes it what it is in a good way not an excessive way.

In the case of the SA Mod Squad just makes the most sense. Having access to so many of those type of effects, and six Midi accessable locations to store exactly what you want, at a crazy good price point, with the level of sound quality for Bass is a totally reasonable compact stereo solution.

SA EQ2 capability stands out unsurpassed in its category. It's interoperability with the OPUS makes a perfect companion device to compliment OPUS.

Ah I know that lobby well! :)

Great to hear the SA EQ2 and OPUS are working well together! Waiting on baited breath to see this finished rig for sure! :)

In your situation, I think that, regardless of your choice on the ReVolt, I'd definitely be snagging that Super 800 if it does the GK thing you want. I do something similar with my CAB M+, where I use a Sushi Box to give me my preamp flavour (Orange AD200), both into a neutral amp as well as the CAB. You'll have the option of using any future GK captures that Two Notes develop, but in the meanwhile, you'll have your guaranteed GK flavour at your feet!

Oh, and there is also this preamp pedal, which is supposed to be a near-perfect copy of the 800RB as well. Just as food for thought!
The GK Plex is very good if GK is your thing. Has a nice feature set as well. Since it’s older you can probably score one for cheap.
