2 Notes Opus

In the meantime here's a few pics of my updated pedalboard.
I need to say that the black Opus looks really really cool with the Revolt Bass...
we really need more bass oriented updates and this will become a best seller in the low end community !!

Solid board
Would it be possible to have the "bypass" Revolt signal trigger the tuner mode on the Opus? That would make it so much more usable in a live setting as a standalone tuner.

Would love too see the eq and enhancer before Cab sim or bass preamp with more control. ;)

Hi @Hydron,

The DSP signal path is fixed however we will certainly relay this great suggestion to our development team for consideration!
Wait. Which EQ are we talking about here? I’m assuming it’s not the “amp” EQ… Are you saying that the one labeled “Post FX” comes after the cab sim?

Sadly yes
That seems strange to me. I would have thought that it would come after everything else (reverb, enhance, etc… the FX, as it were) but before the cabinet. Why would someone want to add more EQ after the cab? To me, that makes sense in a studio during the mixing process but all that would occur after the track has already been recorded.

I suppose it might make sense if it were labeled “Cab Mic EQ” and was applied on that part specifically. Is it a Room EQ? I’m so confused.

Hi All,

Yes, it is indeed after the cab simulation! More information on the signal chain can be found here: opus:opus_user_s_manual [User's manuals]
I looked it up after I posted my questions. All it says in that section (aside from defining the components of the Post FX area) is: “After defining your foundation tone via the TSM™ AMPLIFIER and DynIR™ Engine panes, OPUS provides you with a suite of Post FX to further refine your OPUS preset.”

A few sections before that though - in the ‘Configuring your tone with Opus’ part - it does say: “Within OPUS, the following signal chain is enacted via the on-board DSP processing

Input ⇒ Preamp ⇒ Noise Gate ⇒ Power Amp ⇒ Cabinet Miking ⇒ EQ ⇒ Enhancer ⇒ Reverb”

Doesn’t provide much of an explanation vis-a-vis the why of it all or offer any examples of how the post-cabinet miking EQ could be used. Based on this though, it does present itself as a Room EQ… might have been clearer to us noobs if it were named as such.

Hi @mencken,

We certainly are :) Stay tuned on our site and social for updates!

You don’t ask much, and you don’t ask often, so I guess I *will* indeed stay tuned. Really looking forward to seeing what the next set preamp simulators looks like. Thanks for the quick response!

Separate question for you though: Is the power-amp simulation in the opus substantively different from that in the cab m+?

How does the “tube stage modeling”/TSM on the opus pre and power amps differ from what’s used in the cab m+ preamp and power amp simulators? (Different algorithms, or just a branding change and more presets, or somewhere in between?)

Any assistance greatly appreciated!

I think, generally speaking, the M+ clean 70's Silverface Bassman preamp is a clean guitar/Bass canvas to work your pedals/ReVolt preamp though the power amp IR and a single cabinet IR.

The OPUS takes everything to another level with the preamp type and variety. The blendable cabinet IR feature is interesting as is the splitting function.

I'm sure the OPUS has some sonic improvement, but obviously, not so much focus on the Bass. And definitely a live/recording one stop guitar amp shop.

The M+ will meet many Bass players needs extremely well.

Hi @mencken,

Thanks so much for your post! So the power-amp emulations are the same but we have reworked the Pre-amp section in line with our TSM power-amp emulation. The TSM preamps are an all new edition! Let me know if you have any further questions.

OK I've got it sorted out myself: the ones not sticking were exceeding the 32nd cabinet.

Hi @james81bong,

Following on from this, the team have been looking in to the issue and we can now confirm there is an update to Torpedo Remote to sort this! The Torpedo Remote App update will also be available later on today.

Thanks again for bringing this to our attention and let us know how you get on!

I think one of the nice advantages for Bass players, in general, from a live gig backline type of sensibility, is the available "Peggy" preamp and one provided 8x10" IR and several other vibey examples available for like $10.00 on the Two Notes site.

With this one box you can undoubtedly provide a better FOH sound from the OPUS than any "who the H*ll knows what condition" SVT could be provided. A grab and go one box total solution for a traditional, always welcome, Bass sound that also offers near limitless potential for any and all other applications.

Mine is arriving today....:bassist:
