2 Notes Opus

Finally, the Eagle has landed...

When ya register the OPUS there is a bonus of (3) IR's

...for guitar. :bawl:

MESA Subway 212*
MESA PH215*
"Peggy" Mothership 8x10*
Marshall 70's Bass 4x12*
Form Factor Audio B410 (x2)
AMPEG B15
Hartke XL 4x10
Mark Bass 2x10
SWR Big Ben 18
EBS 611 15/10/H

*Purchased

I can't imagine requiring more cabinet IR's...?

Perhaps front and back mics on the Vox Bass cabinet with torn speaker cones, with three distortions, bit crusher and a reverse delay is really the sound I've been looking for!

I live in the country and cant find my power supply for my laptop which is dead so i havent registered yet but id like to get a few more IRs and see how different they are. Glad the eagle landed for ya

Gracias..

Remember, you can audition ALL of the cabinet IR's in the Wall of Sound library.

For me, I have potatoes, some steak and the sauce...it's time to play...

Two Notes Crew,

Conceptually thinking out loud;

Could using the midi commands from the ReVolt switching channels be able to be used with this SA Device to talk to the OPUS and one other SA midi controllable pedal? (Possibly require another TRRS 1/8" and an 1/8" TRRS to mini USB midi cabling?? 5 DIN midi to 1/8" pictured is optional)

View attachment 5249775
Routing:

ReVolt Bass Preamp midi Send to SA Device midi IN
+
OPUS midi IN from SA Device midi OUT
+
C4 Synth (USB midi IN) from SA Device 1/8" midi THRU

**The USB midi connection to the SA Device powers the SA Device from the C4 in this case (other SA One Series pedals are also supported to power the SA Device.)

ReVolt Switching Actions:

#1 Channel + OPUS cab preset + C4 bypass

#2 Channel + OPUS cab preset + C4 bypass

#3 Channel + OPUS cab preset + C4 bypass

Preamp BYPASS + OPUS cab preset + C4 Active

It would seem possible to do this without an external midi controller as long as no CC messages are being used?

Thanks!

Hi @PhatBottomBass1,

Apologies for the delay in replying! Providing your non-Two notes device is set to change in respect of PC commands, this should be fine! Let us know how you get on!

Yesterday i tried a couple of upright bass impulse responses from Past 2 Future with my piezo equipped acoustic bass. No preamp, no poweramp, no EQ, no FX; just the IRs. Very promising.

Good to hear! Not that I play upright, mind you. But just good to hear in general. :)

I do find the IR's on their own can sound pretty decent, and don't require additional finesse if set up well in the first place. That said, I *do* always have a tube preamp pedal on my board, and keep it engaged. But I wouldn't be devastated to go straight into my C.A.B. M+ without it. Simply bump the volume up on it to compensate for the lower output signal.

Got intimate with the Opus over the weekend and the Peggy is great, can get from a warm clean to a well overdiven tone gain and volume dimed. The Foundry is blissful too though. Goes from very clean round and warm to mild overdrive when dimed. Stock cabs are a great and the supplyed Two Notes 15" CAB is nice. I downloaded my three favourites of what was available and nice you can try before you buy. Right now i got 2 presets made a clean(Foundry with tweed fridge 8x10 cab) and mild dirty (Peggy with Ashdown RM-212T EVO II cab) and use my Darkglass AO to push the front end to get a really nice overdeiven tone for rock/metal. I am really really happy with this thing so far and havent even dug deep yet thats the best part. Band practise Friday, cant wait to hear it in the mix. Cheers and great job Two Notes this thing rocks!!

Sounds great! Love that there is finally a solid selection of full amp models, and not just power sections (even if I don't need them personally). Hope it crushes at rehearsal!

Out of curiosity, how are you using the Opus in conjunction with the Omni cab sim? It feels like using that plus the IR's in the Opus could be redundant.

Depends on stomp preset but for most part its the a la royal blood rythym section when my guitarist does leads.. Its not great but the omnicabsim really helps dial in that final tone lol. I got the Opus to free up dsp in stomp cause i was using SVT Pro but now that block is gone i have room for hungry dsp effects like Poly Sustain, delays etc for pad work in the stomp. Cheers

Hi @JackMinion,

This is so great to hear and we're so happy that it's working well for you! :)

Hi @JackMinion,

Thanks!! Quick question. In the presets i have saved, there is two of the same presets both made by me same name spot 96. So I have two spot 96s but one has a snowflake beside it and a bass boost. I like the one without the snowflake so i just use that one but what is the snowflake icon mean? And why two spots labeled 96? Thanks!

Hi @JackMinion,

Thanks for reaching out! So, the snowflake indicates that the preset (#96) has been modified and has not been saved - if you save the preset, you should see the snowflake disappear and will only have one preset slot for #96

Let us know how you get on!

Sorry @AmyTwonotes I should have maybe included this question with the last question but I was wondering if you know what the Bass, Middle and Treble frequencies are for the Foundry and Peggy preamps? Thank you !

Hi @JackMinion,

No problem at all! The preamps are matched to those of the amp it's inspired by:

Foundry
  • Treble: high shelf, cutoff frequency 1kHz, gain range +-15dB
  • Mid: peaking, cutoff frequency 700Hz, gain range +-10dB
  • Bass: low shelf, cutoff frequency 400Hz, gain range +-15dB
Peggy
  • Treble: high shelf, cutoff frequency 2.2kHz, gain range +-15dB
  • Mid: peaking, cutoff frequency 800Hz, gain range +10dB -20dB
  • Bass: low shelf, cutoff frequency 470Hz, gain range +-15dB
Let me know if you have any other questions!

Was able to use in my band mix Friday. I love the touch sensitive dynamics, I love the warm wolliness I can get and dig how it sat in the mix. First song we played my guitarist looked at me like I had three heads the entire song. I guess he liked it..It works really well with my Darkglass AO as well going into the Peggy pre. I use this setup for Red Barchetta and Tom Sawyer. Got a great Geddy tone going!!! My band does pop to hard rock covers and works really well for my setup. I love the SVT in HX Stomp which i was previously using but wanted to free up some dsp on the stomp for other things. I first tryed the new Ampeg SGT DI and is a great unit but personally didnt like the SGT drive side. Thank god the Opus came out the next day so i returned the SGT DI and got the Opus. Couldnt be more happier and not to mention room for 5 more preamps i believe. I really hope there are more bass specific preamps added in the future @AmyTwonotes and tbh there's a descent amount of great sounding DynIR cabs for download at Two Notes and are priced right. Anyways I recommend this for set and forgetters and tweakers!! Cheers!
