2 Notes Opus

Is there a way to have the Opus output a clean unaffected signal into the input of my bass amp while having the Cabsim and other effects signal going out to DI and headphones?

Or would I have to split the signal before going into the Opus to have a clean signal go to the amp?

Also can I plug the Opus into the effect return of my amp to bypass the preamp, and turn off the cabsim and use the simulated tube preamp in the Opus instead?

Configuring OPUS to Send 2 Different Signals From The LINE & DI Outputs
Prepare for various performance and recording situations with OPUS' Dual Mono / LINE OUT ROUTING capabilities!

Simply define a terminus in OPUS’ DSP signal chain and you’re set to send two distinct signals from the DI (XLR) and LINE (1/4-inch TRS) outputs. So, whether it’s piping a fully-processed DI signal to FOH and a TSM™ amplifier emulation to your amp's FX return, or simply tracking a dry DI and DSP-processed signal simultaneously in a recording session, OPUS delivers all the flexibility your performance demands.

The LINE OUT ROUTING is accessible through OPUS's MENU directly via the pedal's screen:

  • First, from the Preset Window on OPUS’ OLED display, push the right encoder to enter the Main Menu
  • Then, navigate to the “Global” Menu (indicated by a cog icon) using the right encoder to scroll through the sections and push the right encoder to enter this menu.
  • Once inside the Global Menu, scroll to “Line Out Routing” using the right encoder
  • You can then use the right encoder to select where in OPUS’ DSP architecture the signal for the ¼-inch Line output is fed:
    • NO PROCESSING: The LINE output sends the dry input signal from OPUS without any processing. Please note, this non-processed signal still passes through OPUS' DSP and therefore features the same latency as the signal feeding the XLR DI output. The latency can be configured in the AUDIO PERFORMANCE menu.
    • AFTER TSM AMPLIFIER: The LINE output sends the signal after the PREAMP, POWER AMP and NOISE GATE within OPUS.
    • AFTER CAB SIM: The LINE output sends the signal post the volume levels of the DynIR cabinet emulation microphone channels within OPUS.
    • AFTER POST FX: The LINE output sends the signal featuring all DSP processing within OPUS. With this setting, the LINE and DI outputs send the same processed signal.
You can also set the LINE OUTPUT ROUTING via the SETUP menu in Torpedo Remote, accessible from the main window via the EDIT menu. The different options are listed in the drop down menu next to LINE OUT ROUTING.

Awesome...!

Two Notes has a BLACKFRIDAY50 promo code for 50% Cab IR's until 11/13/23...I just grabbed the MESA Subway 212 for $5.00 to add to my collection.

In the stupid department, I realized that I had deleted a cab IR I wanted and deleted by mistake. It was $6.50 to replace. Be careful of wholesale cleaning of guitar cabs and the "oh H*ll no I'm never using that cab"...

... How do you even delete a cab DynIR?

@PhatBottomBass1 has given plenty of good options, there! But, you can also "jerry rig" the scenario you're looking for, all it takes is a female-XLR-to-stereo-1/4" cable; run your pedals into your amp as per usual, and then feed the amp's DI out to the input on the Opus, via the aforementioned cable. It's what I do with my C.A.B. M+ and it works great!

Anyone use the aux/audio in on the Opus? I think input pad is 29 kohms not 100% sure but id like to run path B on my hx stomp which i have set to output at fx loop send. I know i can mix the signal back together in hx stomp but thinking of routing options thanks. Btw i have one on order regardless and will chime back once it arrives

Two Notes Crew,

Conceptually thinking out loud;

Could using the midi commands from the ReVolt switching channels be able to be used with this SA Device to talk to the OPUS and one other SA midi controllable pedal? (Possibly require another TRRS 1/8" and an 1/8" TRRS to mini USB midi cabling?? 5 DIN midi to 1/8" pictured is optional)

05db367258XXGVDYDCKZSXlw3GCeHIra2lfnbASD.wm-lw.jpg

Routing:

ReVolt Bass Preamp midi Send to SA Device midi IN
+
OPUS midi IN from SA Device midi OUT
+
C4 Synth (USB midi IN) from SA Device 1/8" midi THRU

**The USB midi connection to the SA Device powers the SA Device from the C4 in this case (other SA One Series pedals are also supported to power the SA Device.)

ReVolt Switching Actions:

#1 Channel + OPUS cab preset + C4 bypass

#2 Channel + OPUS cab preset + C4 bypass

#3 Channel + OPUS cab preset + C4 bypass

Preamp BYPASS + OPUS cab preset + C4 Active

It would seem possible to do this without an external midi controller as long as no CC messages are being used?

Thanks!

For those that have experience with two notes DynIR Bass cabs, what are your top picks?

I run with the theory that if I would avoid a Bass cabinet in the "real world" then I avoid it else where. I also hate clutter. :cigar:

I mistakenly deleted the Form Factor Audio B410 (Two Notes) moving too fast and clicked on the wrong cabinet late night. :banghead:

Here's the real kicker...I made the replacement purchase literally days before the OPUS was released. The "OC410" also comes as a standard IR with the OPUS! :meh:

Upside, I can play around with blending two of the same cabinet IR's with the #3 Channel 8 string Bass mix I'm using. Also, $6.50 is a very good price to get other useable IR's. But, $5.00 through today, on the BLACKFRIDAY50 promotion to get more Bass IR's to have, is not bad either!

The OPUS is out for delivery today...it's a process. :woot:

To reply to the above inquiry regarding the Source Audio midi distribution unit. I asked the SASS to weigh in. This is the verdict: Yes, it can be done.

If using Two Notes ReVolt Bass Preamp and OPUS with either a C4, After Shock Distortion, Atlas Compressor or Spectrum Filter One Series pedals WITH an 1/8" TRRS cable from the SA midi Device midi OUT (power/messages) and an 1/8" TRS cable from ReVolt to the SA midi Device IN (messages) and an 1/8" TRS from the SA midi Device THRU to the OPUS (messages) you can perform simple switching of C4 (or others listed above) SA One Series pedals for manually selected presets for ON/OFF function of the SA pedal.

Disclaimer: this was asked so I could use only the available six selected/stored C4 presets NOT go in and move around and tweek this or that. It can allow me to engage a #4 Channel by BYPASS of the ReVolt, use a total preset in the OPUS for the C4 for stored preset sound patches, by using ReVolt as a "basic" midi controller...! :woot::bassist::hyper::drool:

For those that have experience with two notes DynIR Bass cabs, what are your top picks?

Of the ones done in-house by Two Notes, my favourites are the B15, and the Markbass 210. But, IMHO, neither of them hold a candle to the Subway 212 IR I'm using, which was captured/made by Mesa. It smokes anything else I've tried thus far.

I think, at least for now, the simple truth is Two Notes as a company cares more about the guitar community (which isn't exactly a shock, but still a bummer). They don't offer nearly the selection of bass IR's as guitar ones. The ones they do offer are solid/decent, and 100% useable, but no better than that. I think, with time, companies working in this IR/cab sim tech will realize that the bass community, while undoubtedly smaller than the guitarist equivalent, is much more likely to embrace this sort of technology. We've basically been strong-armed into plugging direct into consoles, and not getting mics on our cabs at gigs, for years. If not decades! So all this modelling tech feels like a slam dunk for bassists. I guess we'll see if Two Notes (and IK, Line 6 etc.) realize this any time soon...

Have you spent time auditioning other cabinets not initially provided with a hardware unit? Did you get the MESA SW212 with a "gut feeling" from actual cabinet use or reputation?

@PhatBottomBass1 I just took a stab in the dark on the Mesa, since I saw they made it themselves, and rate everything they make pretty highly (even if I can't afford much of it). Been using their D-350 head for a couple years now, and am very happy with it. Have played older Mesa amps/cabs (and really enjoyed them!), but not used their Subway cabs in person.

And I grabbed the Markbass IR since I've used Markbass cabs, including that exact 210 they captured, for years and years. It definitely felt pretty familiar, when I dialled it in!

Haven't explored much else that isn't already provided in the cabinet suite.

EDIT: The main reason for not being more exploratory with the cabinets in the shop is that many of them are based on cabs that seem geared towards heavy tones; punk, metal, hard rock. Which is totally cool, but also not really the stuff I use. And then they almost go *too* vintage for my tastes, too; never loved Ampeg fridges, or Vox cabs (for bass). And then I've not been a big fan of the Ashdown cabs I've tried in-person, so maybe the issue so much isn't that Two Notes are lacking for bass cabs options generally, but they don't offer a huge variety within that selection.

I'll get the OPUS online and send a message. I have some more cleaning to do. I'll probably only have 10 cab IR's by the time I'm done. I could screw up again. I'll call once to get me setup. ;)

Finally, the Eagle has landed...

When ya register the OPUS there is a bonus of (3) IR's

...for guitar. :bawl:

MESA Subway 212*
MESA PH215*
"Peggy" Mothership 8x10*
Marshall 70's Bass 4x12*
Form Factor Audio B410 (x2)
AMPEG B15
Hartke XL 4x10
Mark Bass 2x10
SWR Big Ben 18
EBS 611 15/10/H

*Purchased

I can't imagine requiring more cabinet IR's...?

Perhaps front and back mics on the Vox Bass cabinet with torn speaker cones, with three distortions, bit crusher and a reverse delay is really the sound I've been looking for!
