2 Ohm Amps

My primary amp is a G-B Shuttle 6.0...wonderful amp! Hope the ShuttleMAX works for you.

I also have a Sunn Coliseum-300 as backup; it's good for 300W at 2 ohms. They do show up here and there...and they have a fantastic EQ section - 7 bands with a preamp on each EQ pot.

Like I said, like the idea of a Sunn but I rarely see death metal bassists using one. My guitarist said he'd was pretty sure the guitar heads were similar to the bass heads, great for doom and stoner/sludge (which I love!) but not great for death metal when clarity and punch can be important (which I also love!).

Maybe when I get some more cash I'll chase one down, but for now I want to see how the ShuttleMAX sounds.

I like the idea of looking into a Sunn head... They're rather elusive though!

How is the tone on the BX1500? I have always been under the impression that Carvin made transparent heads. While this isn't a bad thing, I do like to get some color from my amp. However my main bass has some Bartolini MK1's so they do a good job of coloring my sound as well.

Pretty much a re branded Sunn.

Not really.

SUNN never made a 300w tube head... they only did while owned by FENDER. :) So there never really was a SUNN 300 PRO or 300T. It was still a fender at heart.

You haven't heard of DOOM bands using SUNN? Are you serious? :eyebrow: SUNN is pretty much a pre-requisite for Doom/Stoner/Hell on earth metal or whatever your sub genre you wish to call it.

It's got tubes, it does two ohms. Point resolved. :) I don't know if Oranges do two ohms.EDIT: Just searched, and,no.

I run my Weber AB200 with 2 x 15" cabs . Instead of impedance selector, the amp has a number of speaker jacks allowing different combinations: 1 x 8 ohm, 1 x 4 ohm or 2 x 8 ohms, 1 x 2 ohm or 2 x 4 ohms.

If you're buying gear to run hotter instead of dealing with what your speaker cabs need then you're listening with your eyes and not your ears.

If your amp is 2 ohm stable then great - there are more options available to you if you're stuck for cabs.

Otherwise, get off the internet and play around through a bunch of gear and find what you like. sheesh.

This doesn't even make sense. Did you read the original post?
