$20 Mosky Black Rat

After playing around with it for an hour it's one of my favorite distortion pedals that I've tried.

I have been thinking along the same lines as you Gent. No matter what, the Mosky seems to be making it more and more to becoming at least a secondary, if not primary, distortion for me. I agree that the low gain settings are amazing. It's hard to reconcile a $20 pedal being as good or better as pretty much all my boutiques, but alas, I have to concur with you that this one is an amazing piece and deserves a place in every bassists arsenal who is looking for a rat. I am too much of a Fanboy of Dunwich to compare the Mosky favorably to the VT, and in reality, the VT has objectively a heavier bass feel to it than the Mosky, but there is still something about the Mosky that feels super responsive, natural and just plain fun. I can't seem to put it away. I love how you can see the LED's pumping under the Vintage/Turbo toggle if you look at it at the right angle. And like you (I even think I bought it off you) the Iron Pig V2 was a huge dissapointment for me.

I guess I think of the Mosky as basier b/c the Mosky doesn’t need a bass control to boost bass whereas I had to crank the bass on the VT and it’s dryness still made it feel less hefty/juicy

True, one does need to crank the bass on the VT (depending of course on Diode selection) and the Mosky just seems to have the right balance, but I just a/b'd the VT and it edges it out for sheer sonic punch. Having said that however, I still seem to enjoy playing the mosky the most over all my Rats (landphil, IPV2, VT, Plague Rat with blend, Built By Ryan monster rat).

Did anyone have any issues ordering theirs from AliExpress at all?

Keep in mind that AliExpress is a market. They don't sell anything, they're a space where other people sell things. When people discuss things they purchase through AliExpress, it's a very good idea to mention the vendor (and ideally link to the product page) to help steer people away from the shadier sellers.

AliExpress, in my experience, has always been rock-solid, but that's just in regards to how well the site works regarding searching and ordering things. By contrast, my experiences with various vendors there have been, in general, good; but some have definitely been better than others.

I've misplaced my tiny flathead, so I can only see the bottom board, but from what I can see and understand 18V might be doable.

Much obliged good gentleman. Now, who's the brave soul cuz it ain't gonna be me. I'm superstitious. Mine sounds so good I'm afraid another one might not be as good. Crazy I know.
