Unless the NHL owners and the NHLPA can get together on a new contract, it is shaping up to be another lockout in Sept. and a possible loss of a season like what happened in 2004!

I HOPE we don't lose another season because I didn't think we'd lose 2004 but it happened. The impasse between the owners and players is pretty wide again and unless one sides concedes a little.....we may be facing a year without the NHL.

I mentioned the big possibility of a lockout in April to a friend who dismissed it as overreacting, but I hate to say that I'm being proven right.

It just seems ridiculous to me, the owners are being danged greedy. The players conceded a bunch for the last CBA. Now they are being asked to concede even more, regardless of the fact that the NHL has increasing revenues. The owners agreed on the last CBA but now cry broke, even though there's more $$$. The rich teams need to pony up more to keep the bottom feeders viable (this is coming from a Flyers fan) or contract the league. The players are offering to take less of % of HRR, so donate that back to the poor teams. I dunno, just play some danged hockey PLEASE. Anyway, my men's league starts back up in 2 weeks, so there's that

I feel for the sap who gets bumped so Evgeny Malkin or Martin St Louis can come over to "stay in game shape" by taking his spot on the roster.

Every time the nhl goes through these labor woes, I never have any compassion for the players. For them to be making what they're making is ridiculous in the first place.

Similar to the NFL. Millionaires fighting with billionaires over some money none of them will notice. Meanwhile consider the employees of the team, their arena, food vendors, etc who's lives will suffer because of no hockey season.

You know whats most upsetting about it all? Neither side seems to grasp that the wonderful product they put out on the ice is too expensive now for a family to go to a game together. When will the union or the league insist that ticket prices drop instead of bellyaching about how bad they each have it?
