When you say that, do you mean tone-wise. Or do you mean the V4B will be perceived as louder?
I was speaking in terms of volume. My V4b will push those little cabs louder then the Jule M700 which is putting out a real 700watts @4 ohms. I think the tone is better to but that's just an opinion.
Cool. Do you have to get stupid -drowning the loudish drummer- loud before the powerstage starts to break up?
No I like tons of headroom, for really loud gigs I bring an 810.
Hi all! I might be able to, some time in the near future, get a V-4B. My current rig is a PF350 and two SVT210AV´s. With my band i typically run it at gain about 1´o clock and volume around noon +-1.
1; How would the V-4B compare volume wise with the same cabinets? Would i constantly have to push it into heavy overdrive to keep up with the band? (Most of the time that would be a good thing anywaybut it´d be nice to have some spare power.)
2; Would a single SVT-212AV be louder than my 2x210AV´s?
I have been able to compare the 2 210's and one 212 and I thought the 212 was slightly larger and louder sounding. I know at least one other TBer who did the same comparison and thought the 210's were a bit louder - so it must be very close.
I have a 212av and two 210 avs. There is not a huge difference in volume between them, I did a comparison a while ago and I cannot remember exactly my comments but I think the 212 had a little more body to it and seemed to fill the (small) room better. IIRC Tom Bowlus did a review and thought a pair of 210 avs went louder. Either way there is not much in it. I am a huge fan of the 210avs for their convenience and tone.

But you need to do the math, Peter....a 100w V4B dimed will put out 200w peak. The 210av will take 200w before the voice coils blow. So each cab is seeing peaks of 100w, well within operating range of the cab.
I have a PF350, a V4B, and two 210av's, and I've tested for sheer clean volume and the PF350 will definitely get louder cleaner. But it's not by a whole lot, and the V4B just sounds so good that it really does blow the doors off the PF350, which is great for what it is.
Like peterpalmieri I seem to have a lot of clean headroom with mine and cannot get full on overdrive or distortion at all. I only get maybe a small amount of natural compression. I am not complaining by any means it just puzzles me.
With your V4B? Tried diming the master and turning gain up to about 3:00? Should be pretty face melting.
Dimed im there. But I get a good chunk of volume before crossing the line to distortion.
Yeah with my V4B. It's been a while since I tried it and It was in a small room Don't remember how far up the dial I went but it was up there and LOUD!!! I will try it again as soon I can but it will be another week or 2. I just had major back surgery 3 weeks ago and and cannot play my bass right now.
Oh geez, hope you get back up and running soon. My wife has to get some back surgery soon, too. She's a nurse but as good a nurse as she is, she is one of the very worst patients in the world

Thanks Jimmy I'm getting stronger and more mobile everyday. gonna take it slow and make sure I heal up good.
Not good when the other half is unwell. My wife has just come off very major heart surgery after basically fading away for the past 12 months or so. Fortunately the operation at this point has been unbelievably successful, but it has also meant that my gigging and band work has been minimal during that time. I had hoped to gain some brownie points after putting her ahead of music, but unfortunately she used one day to venture into the man cave and do a tally of the guitars and amps gathering dust out thereOh geez, hope you get back up and running soon. This hasn't come up in a while. The gig is small enough to use my 210avs and no house system. So I'm bringing out the V4b and 2 210avs.
I have been either using the 810 with V4b or pairing the 210s with a Jule Monique and M700 for its FOH flexibility.
Looking forward to this as it is my preferred rig at home but doesn't see a lot of gig time.
