2013 Ampeg V-4B 100W Reissue Pt2

I have been reading this thread for a while and decided to finally give the V4B a try (GAS?). Found one at the local store and man, I'm in love! Only spent 30-40 minutes with that amp (they didn't have 212AV) but man, what a sound! I was so anti-Ampeg for some reason, for such a long time...
Anyway, my stack of V4B and 212AV is coming in tomorrow. Can't wait to spend more time with this amp and hear the combo (212 cab) for the first time! Thanks everyone for all the info you shared here.

Cooool, you won't be disappointed. Please let's know how you like it, and if there's a favorite EQ setting for your setup; and what horn setting you prefer for your playing style. Would be great to know.

I still have a Fender Bassman Pro Neo 410 cabinet and will try how it sounds with the V4B too. I now need to sell it though (already sold Bassman 500 amp) to finance this GAS purchase.
Got the equipment this early afternoon. Have only played for about an hour (busy day) so far and I love this amp! So versatile and I'm finally able to get so many different sounds out of it with ease. Not yet sure about the cabinet though. Definitely different (less bottom end) than a used SVT-410HLF I was initially trying this amp with.
I'll take this rig out of the small room it's in now and give it a little more

Same. I'd love to get one. ..but am very happy with my 2 Fender Bassman Pro Neo 115s. I feel. ..& have heard, that they bring the best outta my V4B - it sounds phenomenal thru one or 2 - & the V4B also sounds great thru the NV215. The NV215 is (a 215 + 6"mid driver ) heavy. .sealed. ..sounds great

The 2 Fender Bassman Pro Neo 115s are modular, light. .sound great also. .. so. ..cab gas is non existant really. .. but I'd still like to try/have a 212AV. .. is that crazy?

I have owned at least 2 V4's and a V4BH.
I always enjoyed them but they used to fall short gigging wise.
I played a new V4B at GC and I was blown away!!! With both the 2x12 and a 410HLF.
What I'm trying to get over is weather or not it was guitar store trickery that made it sound so good or of it really is a different beast than the old ones.

Anyone tried running a 8 ohm and 4 ohm cab? With the 4 in the 2 slot and the 8 in the 4 slot.
With the separate jacks it reminds me of the Mesa's that let you mix cab impedances.

I believe it was @ErnieD that was running a 212 and 112 (2.6 ohm total load) and IIRC Ampeg advised against it as general practice. I would not use two different taps, run them both from either the 2 or 4 ohm outputs.
I'm not sure you are going to get any other answer from this crowd other then the reissue V4b is incredible. That's my opinion!
It's still a 100w amp and that part hasn't changed.
My first choice is using the V4b and then choosing the right cab for the gig.
With a pair of 210AVs or a 212 it will cover moderate gigs and leave you nicely on the edge of grindyness when you push or dig in. With an 810 or pair of 212s I think it has enough clean headroom for really big gigs and I find it hard to push into a grind without some tricky knob twisting or big volume. A small cab like single 12, 15 or 210av will allow overdriven tones at lower volumes.
If you want the smallest lightest cab that can produce the most volume the V4b isn't the best choice Of power IMO.
When I want to be very loud, I use my V4B with my Portaflex cabs.
IMHO: very very loud. I can't imagine a situation where that combination wouldn't be loud enough.
As for the V4BH--that's a different amp with very different voicing. Darker or deeper and it's not as loud as the new V4B. But I love my BH--maybe a tad more that the V4B. Both are good, just a little different.
