I haven't had the chance to gig with the 212av yet. I have with the 2 Rumble 115s in a dive bar with no FOH and it was solid and thumpy, more than enough volume in a decent sized place with about 100 people. Unfortunately, all the places we've played recently have backlines with some random bass rig and FOH support. Sometimes it's a battle with the sound dude just to use the V4b and not the crappy random head they got.

2013 Ampeg V-4B 100W Reissue Pt2

It's a regular amp stand. I put flat weights (from a dumbbell) under the back legs so the cab sits flat enough that the head won't fall. There's an opportunity for someone to design and patent a "flat" amp stand (no tilt). I haven't been able to find one anywhere.
Ive always wondered, do you actually play with your rig like that? I would think the cabs on top of the amp might rattle some stuff loose.
I ended up making a little stand out of a piece of shelving and some rubber amp feet to put the weight n the corners where it's stiffer than the middle. But have had no problems with the amp at all. Don't use it as much now that I have the PF-50T, but I never had any trouble with it.
Yeah. I;ve been looking at keyboard stands, but none of the X-braced ones are low/narrow enough...I have some ideas that I'm gonna goof with. I know JimmyM says we should all use milk crates but....

I have a road case for my head and will sometimes use that as a cab stand. I'd be worried about using a head amp/cab on top of a flimsy folding stand.
Agreed. It would have to be something compact and sturdy.
And to you sir. And may all your Saturdays be filled with warm tubes. (Amp tubes not hospital tubes!)
Man, I just plugged in my V4B into my NV412 last night after it’s been in hibernation. Holy cow, I forgot just how good this thing sounds. Not to mention, zero fan noise and light. Ampeg did a great job resurrecting these classics.
I did some switching of rigs. I've had a v-4bh and an EBS Proline 212 that I got years ago and loved it. I later bought the V4B AV and 212. I missed the bigger bottom of the EBS rig when I changed. So I changed things up and changed back to using the V4B and matching 212 at rehearsal. I did like the bigger bottom...but I missed my Ampeg AV rig. I'll try it again but I"m thinking I'll will be switching back when I get a chance. But the AV does sound great at home!
I just recently changed out a Fender Bassman 500, to a V-4B to play through a SVT-212AV. It's been the best head going into SVT-212AV I've had for a bit. The Gibson SG Std., is fantastic through it as well. This is the finest set up for my playing.

What you want is the On-Stage stand, model WS8540. I have used everything imaginable, and this is the absolute best. Height adjustable, folds to a T shape. Holds a lot of weight. Level.

So I’m getting ready to put new tubes in mine. They still work and sound good but are starting to rattle a bit (they’re the original tubes!) what do you fine folks recommend? I like the JJs that came it but wanted to see what others have used.
Still got originals in mine ... but I've gotta set of Golden Dragon 6L6GC spare for when. .. Can't remember where n when I got em. .. hope they're ok
I'll either put JJ's or Rubys in mine because they sound right in that amp. And honestly, only the V1 preamp tube ever made a change I could actually notice. With Tung Sols and a handful of NOS tubes I have laying around sounding too bright and tight. Good if you like that type of thing, but I think the JJ's and Rubys sound more Ampeg-correct.
Speaking of bright and tight, imagine how good he would sound if he plugged in.
