they both sound nice jimmy hard to choose lol
the xlr on my direct out on the ampeg svt vr I have sounds great plus it has a level control so you can give a more gritty signal to house. but my v4b that I just got sounds great too I have been tuning to natural A=432 tuning wow does it sound great through tube amps. I usually don't mic up or run di's anymore my vr is loud on 1 and flat eq with a -3 db cut at 800htz just played outdoors for 1000 people and it was still loud

So I was checking out those recordings again after I gave my brain some space, and I'm convinced on the SVT EQ'd and mic'ed track I wasn't playing as well as on the V4B mic'ed track. Usually I'm pretty consistent, but it was the first track I recorded, so I don't think I was warmed up yet. My SVT EQ settings sound identical when I listen to the cab live, and the mic didn't move in between takes, so I'm going to have to blame it on the playing. Sorry. OTOH, not like I got paid ;)

Which clip sounds the most like the sound you try to achieve at gigs? Do you usually gig your amps with the EQ "nooned?"
The SVT I've tried gigging with knobs nooned, but I prefer that EQ setting I used for this recording deal or close to it...maybe the mids slightly below 3:00, a little more low end when we get into the harder soul music we do. But I haven't gigged the V4B with an 810 yet, and if I did, I'd probably noon it. I've been using the 210av's with the V4B, and I've been putting bass and mids at 1:00 (mids @ 800 hz) and treble at 9:00 because they're brighter and don't go as deep.

Fulfilling a couple photo requests:

I just spent some time recording tracks of my Heritage SVT-CL and V4B for comparison's sake, but for some reason, I'm hearing weird artifacts when I play them through Soundcloud that aren't there when I play the tracks by themselves. This could be just a weird thing with my comp, but please let me know if you're getting them too, and I will move them elsewhere. But Soundcloud makes it so easy and it normalizes them, so comparisons can be made more readily.

Anyway, here are the tracks. All were done with my 09 Precision with the 62 Original and Stellartone Tonestyler installed, set for max treble, out of whatever and into my Fast Track interface. The mic'ed tracks were done with my Heritage 810e and a Heil PR40 mic about a foot away from the cab pointed to the middle.

V4B knobs at noon recorded through the XLR out:

SVT with knobs at bass noon, mids 3:00 @ 800hz, treble 2:00 mic'ed:

V4B with knobs at noon mic'ed:

The next two tracks were more for fun and edification more than anything, as I would likely never use them this way...

SVT set with EQ'd knobs through XLR out:

SVT set with nooned knobs through mic:

And for comparison's sake, here's a clip I did using the REDDI for a DI:

Got some comments coming, but in the meantime, here you go...
