2014-2015 NHL Regular Season Thread

Nice win for the Wild. Look out Chicago.
Yeah, congrats - if it wasn't for Ramo it would've been a lot worse for the Flames - a LOT worse. Beginning to get my mind around the fact that they probably aren't going to make it this year - especially now that the Kings are in playoff mode. 5 minutes away from watching them play your team. Hope they smoke 'em. Hope springs eternal, or at least until they're officially eliminated.

Jagr once....Jagr twice. 720 goals for his career. Jagr and the Panthers do the Bruins a favor and knock off the Sens.

-Mike

Gotta like the Jagr Meister. Thank you very much. The B's are playing better and getting wins although still struggling to score. They are now 3 points up so their destiny is in their hands.
The kids led the way yesterday - Spooner and Pasternak.

Rangers lose consecutive games for the first time since 7-8 Feb.

No time to kick back now. I'd understand it AV was sitting some of the veterans to rest up. But that's not what those two games looked like.

I hate saying it and admitting it, but looks like the Stanley Cup will no longer have a team to defend it this post-season. It's anyone's Cup if they win 16 playoff games.

Kings look deflated. I think they gave up. It pains me to see them like this. Frigging BS, man. Can't win'em all.

Thing is: I want them to have a shot at defending it. I don't care if they lose in the first round...it's better than not being able to play in the playoffs at all.

I suppose I should be happier than I am seeing the Flames beat the Stars last night but I'm still seeing the same confusion and disarray in their own zone that I've seen the last few games (excepting Nashville). I think what Flame fans are seeing now is kind of a delayed reaction to the effect losing Giordano, and to a lesser extent, Smid is having. A lot of other players were able to step up (Wideman, Brody, Engelland, Russell), but it looks like the extra pressure for those guys is taking its toll. They're 3 points up on the Kings with the Kings having a game in hand. The Kings are playing far better overall, and unless Calgary can find some extra reserve from their D, I think it's pretty likely that they'll be overtaken. It seems that the strategy of the team still being in rebuild works in my head - in my heart I want them in the playoffs after 8 long years. The Blues on Thursday in St. Louis. Good thing it's 3 points up, I can't see them winning that one.

After being the first team in the West to clinch, Nashville looked horrid the other night with Rinne, Weber, and Neal out of the line-up. Some guys had better nights and showed improvement (Jones), but others just couldn't get it done (Hutton + Volchy). At least Forsberg is killing it still.

Tonight should be a completely different game. Weber and Rinne will both dress.

Kings are not playing better than Calgary. Their D has been horrid as of late and they've been having trouble scoring more than one goal per game with the exception of the NY sweep. They just couldn't find a way to ride on that momentum heading into Minnesota and Chicago.

I think the Kings are just tired. They've played more games over the past four (including the current) season than any other team. Pair that with the fact that the core (Quick, Doughty, Brown, Kopitar, Carter) are unchanged through those seasons and I think it's finally catching up with them. As a Kings fan for 20+ years, I'm with the poster above; I don't care too much if they're knocked out in the first round, I just want them to have a shot to defend their Cup.
