2015 pedal wrap up

I bought a bass soul food, hm2 and bf2b
Hm2 was £10, and I'm kinda addicted to this gorgeous pedal ;)
Bf2b was bought on a whim for £30. Interesting tone
The bsf was bought unseen and untested. The only time I'd heard it was on YouTube. I have to say it was a game changer for me. It's an always on grit pedal. It fits in every situation I have tried it in. It has superseded the dod bass over drive on my main board. Very happy with it- to the degree that I'm gonna get a second one for other bands, and I'll be able to leave it on my main board full time

This year was a good pedal year for me, I bought / traded / got the following:

- Fuzzrocious Dark Driving
- Fuzzrocious Rat Tail w/momentary feedback switch
- Darkglass B7K
- Strymon Blue Sky
- MXR M87
- MXR M85
- EHX POG2
- Verellen Meatsmoke (technically a pre-amp, but Im using it as a pedal)
- Hiwatt Tube Overdrive
- Hiwatt Tube Tremolo
- Hiwatt Tube Phaser
- ZVex Woolly Mammoth
- Earthquaker Devices Tentacle
- Earthquaker Devices Sea Machine v.2
- Walrus Audio Transit 4 clickless

There may be some that I have forgotten as well.. hmm

This last year had to be a record for me, I've bought, sold, traded then bought again a few!!

I had over 20, now I'm down to 7(soon to be 8 with a DOD FX25B, the 4th time I've purchased a FX25 variant), a few I bought, sold then bought for 2nd times were the Swell Bpro, Blue tube and Real tube overdrive, the VMTD beat them all!! I found I much prefer the BOSS bass synth over the Manta, and I'm sure the FX25 is way more funky than the manta can even come close to!! I found no use for Fuzz or a 2nd level of drive so the OFD is useless to me, and I don't need flange so a dedicated chorus(Ibanez BC10) is all I need, so there goes the Orbital!:)

My absolute favorites are my VMTD and the Empress compressor!! I'm selling off the all the SA stuff except the EQ and went back to analog pedals otherwise... The only one on the sidelines is my DOD FX91 Bass Overdrive sitting by its lonesome self, I might put that on after its fixed! The only constant has been my OC2, that thing rocks!!

Tc mojomojo
Great drive for fat distorton

Rodenberg gas 728b
Great clean boost and overdrive and enough switching to flip things around all day and night.

Ehx Freeze
Ambient drone heaven

Tc ditto looper
Such a fun little gadget

Tinypedals Gravity
Custom built reverb/delay/tremolo

Moog mf-ring and mf trem
Still amazed at how good those two sounds and works.

Byoc Leeds Fuzz
Super fuzz clone i built myself(after lots of trial and errors)and wont get into building pedals again lol

DOD bi-fet 410
Fat booster!

Zoom MS-70cdr
Such a useful tool! I keep getting back to it for insane reverberations, tripple stacked delays, tuner, bit crushing and pitch shifting.

Boss OC-3
I have gone through so many different octaves in trying to find the perfect one. This one isn't the best but good enough for now.

TC Trinity
Ambient reverb for days, just plain lovely.

Boss LS-2
I think the best buy i did this year, can't believe I haven't got one earlier...

Yes this year was obsessive but i was tired of my old board and started to rebuild everything from scratch.
Even sold lots of pedals, amps and basses to slim things down. Haha, onto next year now...

This year has been a season of consolidation and upgrading. I use my pedals/pedalboard primarily at church, so subtlety was the goal. My favorite buys this year have been the Cali76 Compact Bass, which is a very nice compressor, and Noble Tube Pre/DI (totally awesome!) which was able to replace (both) a 3Leaf Enabler and Voodoo Labs PP2+ on my pedalboard.

This was the year I finally found a proper front piece for my board in the EHX Micro POG. No more mucking about with filters, just cleanly filled space.

My other major acquisition was the OBNE Black Fountain "oil can" delay. It finally nailed what I've been hearing in my head for years.

I have recieved a Mooer Ana-Echo. My first pedal. Well I had the Zoom B3 but it was noisy and not so good quality, even bypassed it was sucking harmonics/tone out of my bass so I sold it cheap and lost my confidence in multi-fx.

But trying this little chinese pedal, it´s all analog, loved it.

Now I´m planning on building a little pedalboard with only 3 pedals: Tc Corona Chorus - Mooer Ana-Echo - Ampeg SCR-DI or Tech 21 VT Bass drive DI.

I probably can't name them all but the highlights of my year were:
Verellen Meatsmoke pedal pre and JohnK F2B preamp: these two together with the Fifth Gear have become the foundation of my sound.

Death By Audio Apocalypse: very versatile fuzz that blows me away everytime I hear it in the mix (not so much when I'm by myself, which leads to me thinking about selling it until I get it in the mix again)

My custom rehoused OC-2 with clean bypass, and square wave generator mod.

I have to throw in the Future Impact (bought in 2015, but probably won't make it here in 2015)

2015 was a year with a lot of changeover for me, the bands I play in, and in my pedals, and sure as shinola my amps (good Lord I had issues there) and I won't get into that.

So I started the year playing in a pop punk band using my Blue Tube, along with a Rat Tail, HOF Reverb Mini and an Aquapuss. Got rid of all of them. Picked up a Fuzzrocious Demon and the Wren and Cuff TFR but kept neither. For a while I went very stripped down, no effects.

Then I built up a couple effects. First up is the MXR Bass Fuzz. It's good, I like it. Does the fuzz thING nice.

Buy my pedal of 2015 had to be the Boss BB-1X preamp and overdrive. Just sounds so good, the preamp is nice, especially with a P Bass, good low grit level and I put the BFD before it for some super crunchy Fuzz.
