I’m sorry my full-Spiro experiment failed but I’m holding fast to my Bel Canto G & D, 4/4 Spiro Weich A and E/C. My bottom two strings are spectacular. If only the Spiro weich D behaved better on my bass.

Is it time to adjust the sound post?
Is that bridge on backwards? Label side down (curved side).Still going in October. The key for me was getting the gauge right for my bass. They're working out quite well.

It caught my eye because the stamped logo is usually the fingerboard side of the bridge and also that E string was sitting up rather high in the groove while the G string was pretty deep in its groove. I guess you just check that the flat side is down towards the tailpiece.I certainly don't think so. It's cared for by very well respected luthiers in our area.
So, how many of you are still in the Spiro Challenge? I said up front I couldn't sign on, but actually have Weichs on one bass and Mitts (w/ Stark G) on my other bass coming into the final stretch of 2022.
Yep, I still have the weichs on…
I got back from 5 weeks overseas (managed to see a solo improvised show from the amazing Dion Nijland at the Bimhuis in Amsterdam) and for ***** and giggles put the belcanto G back on. It didn’t last long and the weich went back on. I actually found it harder to start under the bow and I think my old French bass is quite dark so the brighter spiro seems to be a better fit. So for now the weichs are a still a stayer…
Hey
If you read that carefully you’ll see that the belcanto G went on for 5 mins and the weich 3885 G went straight back on… does that count?

What's the answer to the ultimate question of bass, the tune-iverse, and everystring?
S42.
I'm still in.
