2023 Bass Acquisition Round Up

Two main ones for me this year :

Open box/almost new Squier classic vibe body of 4.1# that’s been put together with a left over Warmoth roasted maple/rosewood neck and Fender pu 63 pickups. Turns out it’s my workhorse now, real 60's Fender sound, much better than expected :

And a 2000 Chinese Squier p bass body to build another p bass with a left over Mexican 2015 precision neck and again a set of PV 63 pickups. To my surprise, I removed the dark blue paint from the body and found out it’s a 2 piece alder body of 4.5# with a factory urethane finish. I just sanded it up to 2000 grits and the outcome is surprisingly nice so I will just leave it as is as this will be my "beat up" bass :

I only picked up one bass this year. But she's a good one. Mike Lull PT4. First bass I've owned with a t bird setup. I think I like it! ;)

The plan was NOT to acquire any more bass guitars, but sometimes life gets in the way.

I thought putting a neck on this old extra body might make it easier to sell. It had the opposite effect! (Maybe I should have used a cheaper neck.)

I'm already at infinity % over my intended acquisition number. Time to be strong & hunker down... until a buddy offered me a "bro" deal on his MIJ Gretsch Broadkaster.

Maybe I should resolve to buy 10 basses this year so I'll wind up getting zero. That seems to be the way things are working.

Happy New Year, everybody!
