Thanks for the preview @silky smoove from the clips sounds like the chromatron has a deeper dig on the filter sweep but both pedals sound nice....your WLD settings are pretty juicy for sure.

Thanks. I like my envelope settings to be really noticeable, but also pretty fast and short so they get out of the way quickly. I don’t get much use from the Bootsy thing in my own playing, though I do dig hearing other guys using it.

EDIT: Just a quick update on things. Below is an image of where I’ve landed with things on the Chromatron. I love it set like this. Super pronounced envelope sound, but not overly resonant which makes it useful on a lot of different material. Definitely my favorite of the four different filters of Spencer’s that I’ve owned. My WLD is headed for the classifieds, and the Chromatron is headed for Velcro and a permanent seat on my board.
Additional edit: The filter peaks on the Chromatron are WAY more controlled than the WLD. You still get some exaggeration, but it’s nowhere near as peaky as the WLD, which makes it more useful for “normal” playing. I could see guys wanting that more exaggerated peaks thing preferring the WLD, but for me it’s Chromatron all day.

I think he could SLAY this. That and another compressor, with more tweakability. I can’t find myself to ever sell my PWNZOR because I’ve had it for so long and have grown to really know it well. But LORD ALMOGHTY what I would give to have that release knob on the outside and maybe a blend control.

Count me as one who is very happy that Mr. D is the undisputed King of envelope filters for bass.
I'd love to see his ground-up take on an overdrive pedal in the same top-jacks format as the rest of the 3Leaf lineup. I currently use his Pike Vulcan for overdrive, and while I really do love it (it beat out the Darkglass VMT and B3K, as well as a Reiner Gasoline), I want it in the same form factor as 3Leaf pedals.
For me, I'd really want to see what he would do with a synth sound, like an LFO.
I met Spencer back at one of Vic Wooten's bass nature camps probably a decade ago...he was working on designing a pedal and when the groove regulator came out, I thought I was just helping out a fellow bassist follow a dream by buying one - the way he talked about what he was trying to do, it seemed like he was going to fill a void and give bass players something that a bassist ears had tuned just right. Fast forward to now and Spencer has a dedicated following and his pedals appear on boards of my favorite pros - imagine if he did a synth pedal...ideally, I'd really love to see him collaborate with Koltai of pigtronix...Dave's wild ideas with Spencer's ears for bass, the game would be changed forever.
I seem to remember that Spencer initially had a synth in the works but eventually left this idea. Something along the lines that he felt it was too ambitious of a project. Not that he couldn't do it but probably more of a cost concern on what it would take to R&D and get to market. But I may be remembering incorrectly.
I guarantee you if someone were to rehouse an Octabvre, Doom, and Chromatron in an etched enclosure, you could fetch what Deep Impacts are going for used.

Future impact is a great synth pedal barely got under the hood, just working with presets and it’s got some great stuff.

Right. Just thinking classically in the octave > dirt > filter type of way, which Spencer has proven he can nail.
The Octabvre into Doom by itself is mega synthy, and sounds really, really damn close to a miniMoog into my Moog MF-101. I've tried friends' Wonderloves and it also sounds great, if a bit more drippy.
Agree. The FI is the king right now when it comes to synth pedals. For what I am doing, it has moved the 3leaf stuff off my board (my combo was Octabvre into Doom into Proton).
But what I do is not necessarily what others want. The 3leaf is more of that Lefebvre thing where its a bass guitar that kind of sounds like a synth.
The FI is where people go - wow, how is that not a bass synth?
I also agree that is may be too ambitious. The FI has been worked on by a freaking genius from Hungary who has devoted years of his time on it and continues to update the firmware. I believe he also is an electro harmonic employee so it is not his only venture. Point is that it is more of a labor of love, and i think 3 leaf’s bottom line would be crushed if he devoted the R&D to just doing a synth pedal. Oh well, one can dream.
