It’s not that I don’t want you to have it, or that I don’t want the money, it’s that the Octabvre is so practical. It’s not the same as the OC-2, in some ways it’s better and some ways it’s worse.

I’m still undecided, it’s yours if it leaves me though.

Hey enjoy that thang man!

What do you like more about the OC-2?

I’m tempted to try the little MXR octave because the mids switch seems like a nice feature

To my ear, the OC-2's sound is warmer and not quite so definite. The Octabvre's sound is just more "present". I personally prefer the way the OC-2's sound sits. However, I wouldn't go back to gigging my OC-2. The Octabvre's features are just too good to give up. Especially the Tim switch.

I didn’t like the Tim tuning. Now that Adam’s getting my Octabvre my plan is to modify and rehouse an MXR vintage bass Octave to have a sub solo switch to make a pseudo oc-2 octabvre

Strangely, the Tim tuning does more for me than even the filter knob. I find that some styles call for a synthier sound with more square-wave low mids and mids, while others benefit more from the deep, scooped Tim sound. I typically use the Tim tuning in a situation where the synth-like tone of the standard wouldn't be as appropriate. The standard tuning gets this awesome synthlike fifth-up tonality if you run it through some distortion.

Same, I'd describe the OC-2 as warmer. I'm using the Octavbre Mini, and don't really hear that snarl until the tone knob is around 3 o'clock or later. That's the Mutron octa-divider type of sound, if I'm not mistaken.

The Octavbre Mini sits really well in a mix, stacks great with filters/fuzzes/phasers, and has great tracking. Also true bypass. I think it was the buffered bypass of the OC-2 that made downstream signal sound different (changed in some way, can't really articulate it--not the same with pedal out of the signal chain).

Also love the switch. A lovely pedal to stomp on, almost as great as the Way Huge footswtiches imo.

I used a mini before the mkIII, and actually preferred the sound. The 3 was more convenient though.

More convenient bc of the sub options/Tim switch?

I never used my OC-2 for subs, so I don't really miss that feature. I'm using an MXR Sub Machine as octave fuzz, but since the sub can be run independently of the fuzz, sometimes only use that when a sub is needed/"needed."

I'm using near beginning of the chain, after the tuner and booster. Yep, standard octave stuff, also when I want the bass to sound like a keyboard. I play around the tenth fret and up, sometimes stack with a filter or phaser and a little dirt, and there I go.

I'm recording as part of a duo with very few overdubs (mostly drum programming or keys), so when the guitars go for a solo, I hit the octave and go for a close to 50/50 blend, maybe a little more towards dry. Adds depth and dimension, and fills a lot of space harmoniously. To my ears at least.
