Contact Spencer’s girlfriend. You’ll have better results.

If you’re specifically into the GR magic you’ll find the Proton is quite different.

IIRC they’re inspired by different iconic filter sounds, so intended to sound & feel different.

GR2 would be a better choice for replacing a GR deservedly gone to pedal Valhalla.

That said, you’ve described very easy fixes for any competent pedal tech.

for those just popping in, this is not a "your mom" joke type of situation...apparently, Spencer has/had a girlfriend who leaned in recently and helped make the most recent drops happen.

Get yer minds out of the gutter....there is nothing saucy here.

Nonononono it's totally cool! I did wonder if it was the right thing to do or if it might be a lets see if the new guy will actually contact his girlfriend looking for a pedal repair thing. But saucy didn't even occur to me. Even if I weren't too old for that kind of crass stupidity I've always been too smart for it. I get the situation now and thanks everyone for the help. I'll just email him again and he'll get back to me eventually.

There’s definitely different strokes for different folks. I’ve have multiple GR2s, and multiple Protons of various generations… and I keep going back for the Proton magic. Just seems greasier to me.

Ok sounds like I do need a Proton. “Greasier” is too much for my curiosity. I’ll grab whatever comes up but again out of curiosity are there any significant variations between generations?

The very first pedal I bought from Spencer was the Groove Regulator 2 when it was brand new…I was so in love with his stuff that I became a crazy fan and began buying essentially everything he put out after that…selling things here and there that I didn’t think I needed anymore (I had 3 of his filters at one time)

‘And I sold the GR2…biggest mistake I ever made…I’ve been through several Protons and Wonderloves looking to get THAT sound back and it eludes me…just my 2 cents

I was talking to Spencer about Chromatrons, and he doesn't yet have a new supplier for the enclosures. Seems like it is not a high priority for him because they are pretty expensive to build, and with the supply chain the way it is now, probably not good margins on them.

I'd say if you really want a Chromatron, used is your only option for the foreseeable future.
