I've been out-of-state with (purposely) limited screen time, but have been munching my popcorn and following this discussion, wondering if I should even chime in because it's fairly pointless now, but just because this is the internet...
This. Unfortunately, Spencer now has total affirmation that regardless of whether or not one agrees with the business practice, he can require a bundle and get away with it... and doesn't seem to care.
I was really looking forward to trying for an Octabvre, and I admit I did have a little whisper in my brain that said "I could just toss the preamp and it would still be less than an Octabvre mini on Reverb." But I decided I didn't want to condone the bundle, as it does feel a little like customer exploitation.
It doesn't matter in the end I guess, as Spencer will run his business as he sees fit, and as he even said in his post release, they sold faster. So, I hope none of us are surprised when the next release is attached to a bundle to sell the rest of the Animas.
