Santa brought an mk3.33 under the tree. Got to play a little this am and a/b w my oc2. Def not the same but boy does it sound good and the ability to go from sub to sub and clean is huge

Also it kind of sounds thin w out the overload on anyone else have that experience

Do you have any other pedals in the chain? I'd love to see a waveform of the Octabvre's signal. I felt the previous version was a little thin and now I'm wondering if it had to do with phase inversion or not jiving with other parts in the signal chain. Pure speculation on my part aside from not getting the as-previously-described THICC sound, especially when I compared it with my Octamizer.

I would say that the 3.33 does the OC-2 thing really well with the tone set to about 2:00 or so, depending on taste. And to my ears, I’ve never experienced any thinness in it… Overload, to me, actually thins it out a little bit because the clean lows seem lesser. Could easily be my ears and rig, not that it actually thins out at all. That said, that sound is super cool going into the Proton or other modulation!

Yessir. Most photos I’ve seen of the 3.33 are very close to mine… clean at about noon and octave at 11:30-12. Give it a boost on that octave and don’t be scared. A small low boost on the amp/interface might kick it up a notch!

Ahh. My bad. I’ve found that around 2:30 on the sub volume is close to unison with my setup. I also use the tone knob on most of its full extent… rarely am I above 3:00, but it does happen while looping and such. Much more sub volume than that makes it excessively boosted versus my clean or clean+octave volume.

So did people not like the MK3? I've used it on gigs for the past year or so, maybe longer. Seems to do the job (the solo-sub switch being the primary innovation of course). And at least in normal gig settings it seems to carry plenty of low end. That being said, I did snag a MK3.33 from last night's drop. Couldn't help myself.

Everyone will have their preference, but most (myself included) regard the MKII as the best iteration. I have had all the different versions and liked the original MK3 where all the printing disappeared a few gigs in to the MK3.33 I got from a recent drop. I didn't have them at the same time so wasn't able to go head-to-head but I wasn't able to easily dial in the "3Leaf Octave" thing that I had got from the prior three iterations from the 3.33 so I moved it along.

Also FWIW, I am not currently using an octave pedal in my rig. When a tune calls for that sound these days, I play either a Moog synth or Crumar CPB-2. That said, if I were to go the pedal route for that sound again, ANY of the 3Leaf get you there better than most of the other octavers I have tried. The MKII sounded the best, but I know the form factor is an issue for some with limited space, but any of Spencers octavers will get the job done better than the rest. They track really well and have the versatility to get a sound between the OC-2 or Mu-tron.

I loved the mk3 sound. It was very thick in the mids, didn’t quite do the oc2 “hollow” thing but it was always great in the mix. I moved on to Broughton Subsonic as the form factor with the 2 switches was a bit too crammed for my liking, but otherwise, it was excellent. Not sure how I feel about 3.33 from listening to clips, but it’s definitely different enough.

A friend of mine had one of these early ones that had no decal, soo cool!

On a related note, I’m thinking of selling my weak decal doom 2 with one of the faceplates that Spencer put up on the website a few years back, I’m in the UK.

I mini doesn't have the solo-sub footswitch though. To me that's the whole point of the Octabvre. But yes to your second point, I've never had any issues with the MK3 in gig settings. If I really put it under the microscope I could probably get nitpicky. But there's nothing microscopic about my current crappy wedding gig situation, lol

What do you guys think of Darkglass block release named Mood2, which is a clear digital replica of the Doom2? I really hope they struck a deal with Spencer (I doubt it), especially in the context of their fallout 10 years ago. Offering a digital rendition of an another boutique pedal of a one man operation is not very cool, unless of course the man is getting a cut. I don’t like the idea of Darkglass (Korg) ripping off a small boutique. I don’t know, it doesn’t smell quite right to me.
