I'm digging the sound I'm getting now except for the intense cabinet vibration I'm getting at high volumes (particularly at certain tones)
my '73 V4 (modded w/ 6550's) and my '77 B25B (loaded w/Eminence Delta 15A)
it sounds amazing!
The V4 doesn't break up earlier if you use the right cab.
before my B25B, i had a SVT410HLF wich was boomy and break up easily. really night and day!

I have a '64 Fender Showman that I favor for blues gigs and some rock gigs. It's been modified to run EL34s, lowered the center frequency of the mid knob, added a presence knob, added a preamp line out. A great amp, fine tuned for my needs. Collectors would hang me but I care not! For more rocking gigs I have a Laney ProTube 50 and more recently a 100. I was looking for a raunchy, distorted sound but with low end that stays focussed and defined. The Laneys do it!

Very possible. The thing has been through a lot. I'm pretty inexperienced when it comes to diagnosing these things though.
Cool thread! I need to find some motivation and get my project wired together & making sound. I got a chassis & head case from Weber, a populated board from Revolver, and Mercury Magnetics transformers and choke to make a '59 Bassman. I don't play out anymore, so it's going to be my living room amp...
They have been for a few years but IIRC production stopped in the early 90s so there was a time where they were only available as NOS.
Nails it down pretty easily huh?
Mine is a 73, has the switch. I think they launched in 71/72ish.
Stupid question -
I'm about ready to pull the trigger on a bass cab for my Epi head, which has outputs for 4, 8, and 16 ohm cabs. Since this will be the only cab plugged into it, is there a reason to choosing an 8 ohm cab over a 4, or vise versa?

like Coreyrife, i don't have any vibration problem with mine. it's really a bulletproof cab, and you need to have a dolly to move it.
