I play in a 70s-early 2000's cover band with a fretless six string. Including some slap stuff. Nobody has said anything yet...except one kid who is taking guitar lessons from one of my band members. He was very curious why my bass had so many strings.

Well, it's a $1200 bass and other than the bad setup it was like new for $700. A friend leveled the frets for $20.

That's a great price! Yeah, that is a super nice bass. Was way out of my price range when I was looking around for a 6er, but really nice bass. Congrats man!

It was welcomed in my 80/90/00's alt rock/pop band, as well. Especially for the Depeche Mode covers.

How does the 2-2x8 setup sound compared to the 2x10 configuration? I'm curious about that; personally I'd prefer the two 10's for portability (IME at Bass Central a while back) and for volume; two 2x8 cabs should sound good.

The 2 10 stack has a more pronounced low mid sound and is very loud for its size. The voicing of the 2x8 I guess is more neutral than the 110, which has a definite lower sound to it. The 2x8s stacked is very loud and present. You can'y beat the ELF and 2 10s for volume and portability.

Funny that this is the last post on this page the day I come here to join the club because:

I submit this photo of my Peavey TL-6 as my application! This bass instantly became my number one. Loving having a 6, and being in a 3 piece band gives me lots of room in the mix to really explore the new possibilities a 6 string offers.

Oh, and I don't really join clubs, but I've used sixes for the majority of my playing life. My latest on is a 33" scale with 17mm spacing and a 2" nut. Comfiest six I've played.

Yup- I've changed out the pickup covers for radiused ones so that part looks slightly different, but I'm holding it in my avatar and in the picture they use in Bass Player every month:
