63 Fender Jazz. Need Advice

Okay, so it's looking like it's certainly a 74-75. Most likely not to fetch a grand in this market, and with no value as a collectible. I'll report it back to him. I really appreciate the help, guys. And for hanging with me on this rough ride.

I'll let you know what's decided. (Also, if it's not worth that much anyways, and is only good as a player, then it would make a good bass for me to work on. I've done a few no-name basses before, and am ready to step up to a real bass, just not ready for a professional restore.)

We'll see if it's in the cards for me to keep it.

1975 Neck plate, 1974 pickups and pots, 1975 Neck date (I think)... All indications point to it being a '75. Would be worth $1500-$2000 if untouched original... Being sanded down it's just a player, might bring $1000 but not likely in this market.

I highly doubt you would find a buyer paying $1k.....the sum of the neck, pups and body (if real) maybe $500 - $600.

I'd offer $300 cash... maybe negotiate with him a little.

Well, we have to find out if he thinks I'm just jerking him around and trying to get a deal. Worst case scenario, I give him the bass back, and he tries to sell it, and realizes for himself that it's not worth a fraction of what he thought. Maybe he'll try to bring it back to me. I'm not too worried about it. I'm just happy to have been able to take the ride. Maybe I'll end up with a cool player, maybe I wont.
