700w amp rig can't keep up with guitars.

in-ear monitors. You hear what you want and the problem is solved. If your mids are bumped your probably cutting through to the audience or with PA support your probably where you need to be for the audience.

I worried about this for years and the truth is that my bass is probably too loud once you get 20 feet from the guitar amps.

This can work, especially if you aren't married to writing all the songs, lots of people can write good parts or songs but sometimes they need someone to organize practice, get shows and make decisions. I am the bass player, vocalist and band leader in two bands because there are a million guitar players, but everyone needs a bass player who can show up and a vocalist who isn't annoying. Also helps if you are involved in your local music scene, easy to meet musicians and vet them a little, I've met way better people doing that than Craigslist.
Also helps you get on better shows if you volunteer to run the door or Put up flyers round town or even just show up and pay the cover and watch the opening bands.
Finding good people is hard sometimes but that's really what a music scene is for, when it is functioning properly that is.

At this point I have been considering quitting for a while. I have some criticisms of the music we're writing and they're just not listening to my suggestions or willing to change anything. That coupled together with personal problems, and problems like this are going to lead to my exodus. I am kinda trying to wait it out through this Hard Rock Cafe battle of the bands competition before I do that, though. For me, that's the make it or break it for this band.

When things are right in the band, you'll get goosebumps and shiver when the magic happens between musicians, The only times I've ever felt this is when all the musicians are listening and communicating with each other through the music. This absolutely can't happen when some members are hell-bent fighting each other for the volume mountain peak.

I think you should just move on.

1) It's very important, that you're off the ground. If you're playing with guys that are playing with full stacks and your speakers are at leg level (half stack), you're not going to hear yourself, even standing directly in front of your gear. Though across the room you may sound over powered to them. 2) Band floor arrangement is Also very important. You guys probably need to spend a day rearranging how Everyone is setup so you can all hear each other appropriately. 3) Not to be a downer here, but if you're playing with guitarists that are full stacking, the bass head needs to be KING, but turning down as necessary. I suggest 1500 watts. Then you'll be the guy that needs to turn down. lol Anyways, good luck!

I can show up with my secret weapon which will overpower both guitarists and the drummer.

Sure, it's simply a pillow case filled with Chunky soup cans but it's the way you swing it at them and bring the hips into the motion that makes all of the difference.

I choose Chunky soup because they provide filling meals to the less fortunate when I donate cases of dented cans so this is a win/win for everyone.

Stopping hunger, saving ears. All in a day's work.

since finding a bass player and a drummer are usually the hardest players to find, i wouldn't consider dropping playing bass at this point.
