8x15 Can't Wait

To get an idea of the massive scale:

When? In the foreseeable future, or "someday..."?

What's your start date; and will you post build steps here, step by step?

Good luck on an ambitious undertaking! ;)

Already started with the woodworking. All pics and specs will be unveiled on day of finishing. My frickin' aching back already.:hmm: Oh, and chose a vinyl covering.

No, he's shaking his head at the very thought of this ill conceived notion. :rollno:

Catch 22: "I want to build an 8x15. I don't know how speakers work. How do I learn?"
"Once you learn how speakers work you'll know why you don't want to build an 8x15."

I was being a bit tongue-in-cheek here, Bill. I was referencing your point on vertical cabs and dispersion.

just be sure to provide a sound clip for seamonkey to model;)

That's my requirements! :D

But - no need for a physical model. Any good designer is going to first model in a virtual space. Stack in the drivers and look at all the horrid combing caused by trying to squeeze out the all important midrange. This all shows up in the model. Pro sound engineers use this to provision their arrays for a show.

8x15 isn't bad, as long as you add in a good vertical say 4x6 midrange array with a Crossover, and a tweeter array - like Bill Fitzmaurice.

It just wouldn't "look the look". Somebody needs to make "the look" holograms of huge cabinets to hide the real workhorses

Exactly... I think the next step is to build a giant igloo of 15" speakers all pointed in. Go inside and play.

Rumor has it Billy Gibbons used to do something similair to record that really thick guitar tone he has....basically a circle of rigs all faced inward with mics in the middle.

Last time I saw ZZ Top, even they had converted to the new way of doing things. Stage backdrop was decorations or "scene's", not an amp to be found.

I think the igloo of amps would sound better than an igloo of Geddy's chicken roasters...
